When I was ten my family drove to Minnesota with the intention of living there. We stayed in Bemidji and thank goodness that after a month my Mom said fuck this, I left this state for a reason. What could have been. I'm picturing myself in my alternate life on the Twins Forum getting ready to root for the Twins against the Mariners while wearing one of those big dopey floppy-eared hats.

It has somehow passed California as the most F-d up state in the Nation. When your Governor is Tim Walsh you are basically doomed. lol What a clown car.

And it has also passed Florida as the state where the most stupid shit happens. Which is amazing when you consider the advantage Florida has with all the alligators there for the stupid people.

I think Florida's extreme flatness, abundance of Waffle Houses and the humidity just make people crazy.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 10:05 pmAnd it has also passed Florida as the state where the most stupid shit happens. Actually, and this really takes the fun out of the whole "Florida Man" thing: The reason there are so many stories about Floridians doing wacky shit is because the arrest record is public, detailed, updated daily, and available online. Local news outlets just look for crazy stuff that happened recently and publish stories.
In most states, getting an arrest record takes more work and the records don't always include a lot of detail. In Florida the officer's narrative of the incident is included in the arrest record so the stories write themselves.
I used to work for a background check company and learned how varied different states were about providing public info. For example, at the time (20+ years ago) Washington State had an online arrest-record search that anyone could use. But there was no information about the arrests, just basic name and time of arrest. To get more info, you had to fax a form, then eventually you'd get a fax back with more info.

Reminds me of the Andy Griffith episode when Andy saw a newspaper clipping of a pic in his GF, Helen Crumps souvenier box of her getting arrested. He called the Kansas City police station and had to wait three days to find out she was getting a PHD in criminal justice and had to infiltrate the KC mob to research for her thesis. Just in the nick of time. The Mayberry school board almost fired her. I was on the edge of my seat all 7 times I have watched that episode!Millikin wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 10:23 pmI think Florida's extreme flatness, abundance of Waffle Houses and the humidity just make people crazy.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 10:05 pmAnd it has also passed Florida as the state where the most stupid shit happens. Makes sense, there are probably more people in the Yellowstone area who get blasted by buffalo that they're trying to take selfies with than people getting eaten by gators in Florida but the only time you ever hear about it happening is when someone films it. Case in point:Millikin wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 10:23 pmI think Florida's extreme flatness, abundance of Waffle Houses and the humidity just make people crazy.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 10:05 pmAnd it has also passed Florida as the state where the most stupid shit happens. Every NBA GM is trying to get a hold if that guy right now. That was the best flop I have ever seen. Didn't even touch him. lolDavidGee24 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 10:32 pmMakes sense, there are probably more people in the Yellowstone area who get blasted by buffalo that they're trying to take selfies with than people getting eaten by gators in Florida but the only time you ever hear about it happening is when someone films it.
