Who would have bet?
Who would have bet?
It’s only 40 some games into the season, but who would’ve bet that the White Sox would have a better record than Toronto?
And that the Mets would be stinking it up?
But the big surprise is Tampa Bay, which, despite making one bad trade after another, is at the top.
The Raley gift stands out.
They also appear to have been ripped off by trading their slugger, Lowe, and Mangum.

Certainly some surprises. But how about the Mariners being 22-23? I thought after 45 games they would be at least 25-20. Cal not hitting his body weight, atrocious defense, giving at bats away, and arguably Cole Young being your best clutch hitter. I think the Mariners have underachieved and will be back over .500 soon. Just have to clean up some things. Better days ahead.

Not sure we stole Raley exactly. Caballero, who we traded for him has put up 1.6 war so far this season. He's with the Yankees now, he's their SS. He has more career war than Raley. Just went on the IL

I would much rather have Caballero right now.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 6:05 pmNot sure we stole Raley exactly. Caballero, who we traded for him has put up 1.6 war so far this season. He's with the Yankees now, he's their SS. He has more career war than Raley. Just went on the IL

The Mariners remind me of a cat playing with a mouse, before too long they’ll get way ahead in the AL Worst.AlvinDavisFan21 wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 3:16 pmCertainly some surprises. They could probably win 82 games and finish first.

When healthy, Raley has proved to be pretty productive, real pop, not sure how they figure out WAR.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 8:01 pmRDonn Beach wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 6:05 pmNot sure we stole Raley exactly. They take offense, defense and baserunning metrics and aggregate them which allows you to compare players that play different positions in different ballparks and different eras by quantifying their overall production.Hy Feiber wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2026 12:15 amWhen healthy, Raley has proved to be pretty productive, real pop, not sure how they figure out WAR.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 8:01 pmRDonn Beach wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 6:05 pmNot sure we stole Raley exactly. Different eras, that sounds really strange.

For example comparing offensive stats in the pitching era of the late 60s with the steroid era is comparing apples to orangutans. They compare players to the average hitter in each era to account for the massive differences in offensive production league wide.Hy Feiber wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2026 2:03 amDifferent eras, that sounds really strange.
