If we are out of contention at the trade deadline we might have a few guys to trade that are on expiring contracts. JP and Randy come to mind.

Waiting on the deadline is what got us here. This team wasn't built to compete in April, and Jerry didn't care. He could simply point to all the success they had last year waiting until the deadline to improve the pathetic group he started the season with. Wash, rinse, repeat with this group ass clowns in the FO.

If we are so far behind the F-ing Sacramento A's that we should be sellers we should trade Jerry and Hollander to a Turkish Prison for a couple gallons of Turnip stew.

And as I pointed out in the OP there is No avenue or opportunity to improve at this deadline like there was last season which makes in even massively more idiotic.

This is an unserious team led by unserious people. The White Sox, and to a lesser extent the A's had a 2 year rebuild and they are suddenly teams that aren't being written off. The Sox are a game behind the Guardians and the AL Central, and the A's sit on top of the AL West.

Here is the best possible trade deadline plan I can think of:

Trade every offensive player except Young and Donovan. Seriously. Clean house. We need a marquee player in CF who leads the team - not one who giggle-shits his way back to the dugout after striking out (usually for the third time in a game). Everyone else except Raleigh is trade bait. Literally.

Demote Raleigh to the Inland Empire 66ers until he figures his swing out again. Keep him there till he mashes dingers twice a game and gets his confidence back. This strategic "oblique strain" IL bullshit is not going to fix his head.

Keep our starting rotation - except for Castillo. Trade him for a bag of peanuts and a box of Jay Buhner limited edition, collector issued bobbleheads.

Spin the bottle with a list of names available for bullpen arms. Literally throwing darts with a blindfold at a list of names could create a more competent bunch of assholes whose only job is not to allow runs for 3 to 6 batters. Every 3 days.

Kick Dan Wilson to the curb and clean out his office. Hire Alex Cora. I understand he's dusted off his CV and is back on LinkedIn.

Hire Chris Getz away from the White Sox. Following the dismissals of previous executives Kenny Williams and Rick Hahn in 2023, Getz took full control of the franchise's baseball operations. He has overseen a massive organizational overhaul, completely restructuring the team's international scouting, farm system, and player development strategies. This dude knows his shit. Diptoto couldn't find his own asshole in a humid broom closet. With a mirror on a stick.

I am not shitting you. I can not watch this pathetic offense bumblefuck its way through another game. Things have got to change, from the top down.

Yep. They have created a perfect storm of mediocrity. They have a roster full of guys who are either to young, too good or too expensive to get rid of but none of them are actually elite. The Naylor signing was idiotic. They had one spot where they could legitimately add an impact bat and they chose to lockup up a guy for 5 years who has only posted 8.4 WAR in 8 seasons. I don't even know what the path is to fix this cluster. My gut says that they need to start dealing some starting pitchers and do a mini rebuild. I don't think this group is going to get over the hump before Logan and Kirby hit free agency. Last year might have been their best shot at it and they stopped short by not adding an elite bullpen arm.

There's really no particular move that would have changed the standings significantly. They sign Pete Alonzo and Jorge Polanco instead of Naylor and Refsnyder. Nobody could have argued with that being cheap and they pick up a win or so. Really what's needed is the team playing better

I just think at this point the most important thing is to get Cal back and hitting bombs again. But I know obliques are tricky so it could be a while.

Could always use better bats off the bench. At some point it'll sink in that the Asian senasation of Refs & Joe just aren't cutting it. Once Robles comes back that'll send Asian Joe back where he belongs. At least he provides better defense. BTW anybody know the status of his injury, just curious. Curious why Davis bat isn't up here. Depends on who's out of it by the end of June so we still have a littlr ways to go.
