Aroldis Chapman DV Story

I know it's already been brought up a few times, not on here so let me reiterate. 2015 Aroldis was involved in a domestic dispute involving his girlfriend. Shots were fired nobody was hurt. Again this was 2015, not 2025, 11 years ago. Again let me be clear
1. 2015 not 2025
2. No charges were filed due to conflicting stories
3. Yes he was suspended for 30 games
After hearing all that. Would you still want him. That'd be the only reason against going after Chapman. Let's think about this for a moment.
-A.L. is shit outside of NY & maybe TB & Cleveland
-Judge is out for 2 months possibly longer which bodes well for everybody else in the A.L.
-They are clearly not the same without him which means having to rely on guys like Stanton, Rice, & Goldschmidt
-How far can their pitching take them
Seattle is definitely in a win now spot. You don't have the best offense but you don't have the worst. You have guys that can make a big impact like Raley, Young, Naylor to go along with your superstar duo of Cal & JRod. Dono will come back at some point. He's a definite spark for sure. Is Seattles offense better than NY without Judge IDK. Outside of 1B I don't see why not. Pitching is where it's gonna make the difference. In saying all this to get my back to the original point it always comes down to bullpen. NYs got some dudes in their backend especially with Doval. If you add a top tier bullpen piece like Chapman he creates that much more certainty for your late game situations. He gives you that much more confidence in locking down the 9th to go along with Bazardo, Brash, & Spier. If your only deterrent is his past history & his vesting option you really don't care about winning do you. We'll see we've been proven wrong before. Jerry's in a very precarious situation. You obviously have the pieces to go get him. This isn't a Johan Duran situation where their asking for 2 top 100 guys. Will there be others interested definitely. Who has the best pieces to offer besides us. We know Boston doesn't need OF so Laz is safe. The obvious answer is pitching which we have in spades. No their not getting Kade or Sloan. You've got infielders like Arroyo, Celesten, a Catcher in Stevenson & Becker. With pitching you got guys like Teddy McGraw or Morales or Peters to name a few. So you have guys to offer. I don't know if I'd label anyone as untouchable at this point even with as well as Felnin's been playing. People think Jerry won't pay that much for a reliever. Say his option does vest. How many guys will they lose to offset that salary. Randy, JP, Rob Alphabet. You think their gonna replace them with more expensive guys. No. I'm pretty sure Laz is close to knocking on the door if not already there (at least by 2027). Again we've got Kade basically ready to go & Sloan not far behind. They can't keep all their starters, someone's gotta go. Luis should be on his way out. He may not bring back much but at least he'd bring back something respectable. As long as his salary is off the books, who cares. Cut dead wait. Again Jerry has no excuse not to do this. Salary is not an excuse, at least not for this year. Not like your adding that much salary to begin with.
