The real problem

Post by AZOldDawg » Sat Aug 08, 2026 9:34 pm

As a retired teacher/coach of 37 years and a Mariner fan from inception I strongly suspect we have SIGNIFICANT CHEMISTRY ISSUES. Our dugout behavior looks like Mr Roger’s neighborhood rather than combat honed. Lack of leadership may just be the tip of the iceberg. Hopefully the three J’s might address things after the festivities are over but I doubt it. Spin Doctoring seems to be their modus operandi

You know, you can respond to your own thread if you have something to add. You don't have to create a new thread for every thought that crosses your mind.

Objection your honor. The counselor is attempting to put the victim on trial.

The problem is Cal, Jrod and Naylor have all underperformed. That's 10+ wins you're missing just there

Those guys weren't enough to put them over the top last season.

And they weren't the answer to winning it all this season.

Dipoto had ~3 vacancies this offseason and he chose "good enough" options like Brendan Donovan and Josh Naylor over actual impact moves.

Cal, Jrod, and Naylor saw they had no cavalry on the way. They were in charge now. Even they knew it wasn't enough. And they choked.

Everything's on Dipoto's shoulders in the end imo.
