This is exactly what my gripe last season was about bring Suarez back last season.

Players that can't hit at t-mobile should not be on this team..... or at the very least, they shouldn't be traded for.

And lo and behold he hit well at T Mobile after we traded for him. Imagine that!

Has anyone talked to these players in order to attempt to understand what makes hitting a baseball at T-Mobile ballpark so difficult for them? Or, for that matter, studied the available data on batted balls and whiff rates for T-Mobile vs other ballpark? That way they might figure out a profile for the type of hitter that isn't likely to fail or be successful here.

During his 2023 season with the Seattle Mariners, Teoscar Hernández struggled significantly at T-Mobile Park, posting a weak .643 home OPS compared to an .830 OPS on the road. He later revealed that the batter's eye felt "crooked," making him feel visually misaligned with the pitcher.The "Crooked" Batter's EyeVisual misalignment: Hernández stated he never felt properly lined up in a straight line with the pitcher's mound when standing in the batter's box at T-Mobile Park.Comfort issues: Despite trying different stances and positions, he could not get comfortable seeing the ball out of the pitcher's background/batter's eye at home.

I'm glad you made a thread out of this, it's just insane that we would pursue players that are terrible hitters in our home park. Even more insane is that Garver would actually have wanted to come here and we must have been the only franchise that made an offer to him. Anyway, we saw how it turned out with him and we're seeing how it's turning out with Ward. Also, Donovan Solano ended his career with a .575 OPS at T-Mobile. Seriously, all it takes is a quick look on baseballreference.com and our management is too dumb to even do that.

What makes this even worse is that these guys probably lose their confidence trying to hit at T-Mobile and end up hitting like shit on the road too.

Yes but that was just him volunteering some information. I'm wondering if anyone with the Mariners has tried to do a comprehensive study to determine why so many players struggle here with the bat.

Mike Trout and Aaron Judge both have OPSs over 1.100 at T-Mobile.

They must have amazing visual acuity to be able to pick up the ball so well with that crooked batters eye.
