8/13 GT: Observation Mode Activated

In any sports season, if my team has gone flat and hope seems silly, I change from passionate fan to impassioned observer.

I am now observing the Mariners, curious about what happens next, but not emotionally invested in an outcome. I am a zoo keeper watching a troop of not-particularly-lovable monkeys throwing poop at each other.

You really should have went with the Troupe spelling given throwing poop is very theatrical...

A troop (often spelled troupe in general or theatrical contexts) is the standard collective noun for a group of monkeys.

Once Jerry is gone I will once again be not happy when we lose but now each loss increases the chances he gets fired by .001% so I don't mind them in the least and when the point in the game comes when it is clear we are going to lose I say, "Jerry!" and laugh. lol

What's bizarre is that I actually wrote "troupe" first. Then I thought... I don't think that's right for monkeys and looked it up. I guess I could have stuck with troupe after all!

John boy needs to step up brother as I believe we have become the laughing stock of the league. I do wonder if our ineptitude has been somewhat driven by the upcoming lockout. With Colt in ga ga land why haven't we sent him down to rediscover himself as he's an embarrassment right now.

On one side you have the franchise that has the greatest winning tradition in baseball, they smell blood in the water, and despite having three of their big hitters out of the lineup they're going about their business professionally and finding ways to not only win games, but win them decisively while being guided by a manager who knows what he's doing. And it's not just their players and manager, their front office saw holes in their lineup with the injuries and filled them with proven hitters.

On the other side, you have the franchise that has the greatest losing tradition in baseball, they've totally quit, are just half-assing their way through games and playing unprofessional baseball while being guided by a manager who may well have already broken the MLB record for the most mistakes made by a manager in a season. And it's not just their players and manager, their front office saw holes in their lineup and bullpen and filled them with a hitter who was good up until a year ago and a pitcher who was good up until four years ago with the only goal being salary relief.

By the way, trading for Dominguez, who helped the Mariners almost win the pennant last year by serving up that salami to Suarez, is like the Seahawks signing Blair Walsh who won the previous year's playoff game against the Viqueens when he honked that chip shot. And we all saw how that turned out.
