So when we add up all this platoon slop that Jerry Dipoto, Justin Hollander, and Dave Cameron have put together, it equals one big replacement level player.

On top of the pitching staff they hang their hats on being a T-Mobile mirage.

Dipoto has set the Mariners back a decade with his perpetual mediocrity strategy. 54%.... pfft.

54% is facts, though.

Donavan would have higher WAR if he wasn't injured for most of the season. Was Dipoto supposed to know he would spend so much time off the field? He's back now and they seem instantly better offensively. (small sample)

If Cal, Munoz, and Woo were closer to last year, then the Ms are one of the top teams in the AL.

You want another GM, you might get Jack Z.

Mariners went to zero post seasons since 2001, and then they won two post season series in 3 years.

You guys act like there's some GM on the street with a crystal ball in his briefcase.

Cole Young at 4.1 WAR is actually pretty great.

Too bad Colt Emerson didn't find his stride on his first stint. But there was some potential. Some home runs.

Kade Anderson and Ryan Sloan are considered elite pitching prospects.

I'm not seeing a bumbling idiot GM. There's only so much you can do. You can't sign a player unless he's a free agent. All teams make bad trades, draft prospects that don't pan out, etc. A lot of it is just pure luck. Educated guesses.

I would've assumed Wilson would have a longer leash. He's been with the organization for so long both as player and coach.

Seems weird to pin his fate on a post season berth. So, if it comes down to the final out of the final game his managerial career with the Ms will come down to one pitch?

Also, I'm not sure a different manager gets the Big Dumper to take less of a big dump.

Do you follow any of the games? Wilson has done a terrible job of managing the bullpen all year and his in-game substitutions with pinch-hitters has been even worse. He's done nothing to deserve a longer leash other than not embarrass the organization by having a hissy-fit mental breakdown in the middle of a game and assault one of his own players.

Donovan has been injury prone his entire career so this shouldn't be a surprise.

Sure, as Michael points out these underperforming player are also to blame. But there is enough blame to go around for everyone associated with the MLB team.

 Yeah don't try to improve because you think you are going to F up another hiring process.

Mariners went to zero post seasons since 2001, and then they won two post season series in 3 years.

2 Post seasons in 11 Years. Should be 6 years in a row and its going to be 2 in 6 years. PATHETIC.

You guys act like there's some GM on the street with a crystal ball in his briefcase.

No we act like there are GMs out that have there teams 20+ games over .500 with far less payroll and GMs out there that could easily run away with this Weak ass AL west with $165M payroll.

Cole Young at 4.1 WAR is actually pretty great.

bWAR is trash for position players an massively overvalues defense. .716 OPS. Fangraphs has him a 2.1 fWAR which is reasonable. Decent season for him after his rookie shit show season.

Too bad Colt Emerson didn't find his stride on his first stint. But there was some potential. Some home runs.
Yep he sold out for HRs as I have been predicting for YEARS he would have to do costing him contact. Finishes the season with Joey Galloesque K rate of 34% and a modest 19 HR full season pace. Not good.

Kade Anderson and Ryan Sloan are considered elite pitching prospects.
YES!

It has been a horrible under performing season. From WS expectations to missing the playoffs. The Buck needs to Finally stop with him. Its time.

No I don't really follow the games. Only thing I know is Brash vs Munoz and I think it's typical for managers to be careful about changing that. Closer usually gets an opportunity to fix things that is long enough to cost the team dearly.

Also, I'm a firm believer that the best manager is only 2-3 wins better than the worst manager. It's not rocket science. It's not NFL football. It's typically a token position given to someone that has been around a long time.

I personally think probably anybody on this forum could do just as good as Wilson, but vice-versa. You fill out a lineup card, you sub some pitchers, you argue some calls, you talk to the press.

They were one game away from World Series last year under Dan Wilson.

When the manager gets fired, it's generally not from managing ineptitude. It's generally based on player performance. Some of it is to appease the fans. Keep the revenue coming in. The players are sucking. There's nothing you can really do. Fire the manager.
