9.1.2026 GT: Looking forward to 2028

As this “team” continues to flounder, it gives the impression this celebrated 50th season is a pretty apt symbolism of the franchise as a whole, brief moments where there may be hope only to have it sucked away ending in disappointment.

Alas, with the impending lockout, maybe there is hope in 2028 as Montes joins the club and is set to DH. Let’s be realistic, probably not.

Location: Somewhere east
First Pitch: 3:45 PM PT (for those masochists out there, you know who you are)
TV: Mariners.TV / ROOT Sports / NESN
Radio: KIRO 710 AM

As the reliable Wooooooo takes the mound with his ever impressive 5.96 road ERA. It almost feels like free money in taking the over (7.5 runs). Note, this is not an endorsement of gambling as the sports books tend to keep my money.

Expect a bullpen day for the other team as Paez looks to improve his glistening 18.0 ERA with a 1-2-3 first inning.

I was just thinking oh oh, is it my turn? Apparently not until tomorrow.

Looking forward to four scoreless innings from Pez.

So our run differential of minus-74 in August was the second-worst in franchise history with the worst also occurring in August...of 1977. Seriously, right down there with the EXPANSION TEAM.

What's funny is that if we made these trades:
2026 Josh Naylor for 1977 Dan "Fred" Meyer
2026 all of our third base flotsam for 1977 Bill "Franken" Stein
2026 Julio Rodriguez for 1977 Ruppert Jones
2026 two-headed monster of Rob Refsnyder and Taylor Ward for 1977 Lee Roy Stanton
2026 Andres Munoz for 1977 Enrique Romo
2026 Dan Wilson for a bag of dogshit that's been sitting in a landfill since 1977
We'd be in first place.

I hope they’ll figure something out and have a season next year. I’m not sure either side remembers the impact from ‘94. There’s more going on now and it’s easier for fans to take their dollars elsewhere.
