On the decline side, the Texas Rangers, who finished 78-84 (3rd in the AL West, 29 games behind the Houston Astros) saw the largest decline from 2018 on FOX Sports Southwest, coming in -35%. They barely edged out the Seattle Mariners on ROOT Sports Northwest, who finished last in the AL West with a 68-94 record. Their ratings dropped -34%; a sign that beyond having the longest playoff drought, the rebuilding year of the roster took its toll. Other significant drops included the Arizona Diamondbacks (-27%), San Francisco Giants (-22%), and 2018 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox (-22%) on NESN.
Per Forbes.

That is not a “massive drop.” It is a “step back.” Get with the program.

Nicely reflects the "bandwagon" effect.

These ratings reflect my viewing habits this year. I haven't watched less baseball on TV since it became common to have every game televised. This is the first time I've ever been exposed to having a 89 win team dismantled. It's like taking candy away from a baby.

I would say my viewing was down more than 34% but the amount of time dedicated to following the minors was probably up 134%

I was a major part of that, barely watched any Ms games this season and it wasn't because of the losing. I didn't watch many games b.c I dropped cable and thus didn't have access to Root NW. Root needs to adjust to the new streaming centric TV landscape and work a deal with a Youtube TV or Hulu or hell even Sling. Get on something. Their model is quickly becoming archaic

The MLB format I don't like so much is HR OR NOTHING OFFENSE with 4 to 6 pitching changes per side.

I am totally cool with the archaic methodology of turning on the TV and turning on Root Sports if I want to watch a game.

Nope, not me. I am not ok with paying 60 $ a month just to get root. I don't have the inclination to hunt for some sort of pirated signal either. Every once in a while I will go to a bar and watch a match up when I have the time. I mainly will watch the recap or a highlight or two.

I am kinda morose about the fate of cable.
The streamers have all jacked their rates up.
I had Hulu when they were free but dropped when they went to 6$
Netflex started at 6 or 7.99 I dropped after their 2nd or third hike to the premium 15.99$
amazon dicked me still a student so I should have paid 59 for the year instead they got me for 119.

HBO, Apple, I know people with anime subscriptions. No one service has everything you want so you pick and choose what you want at the time it is amazing how many nickle and dime accounts you accumulate. Try cutting the cord down to the bare minimum. You might like it.
