ATLANTA – The Atlanta Braves today acquired RHP Anthony Swarzak and cash considerations from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for RHP Arodys Vizcaíno and LHP Jesse Biddle. Swarzak, 33, is 2-2 with a 5.27 ERA (8 ER/13.2 IP), three saves, and six home runs allowed in 15 games out of the Mariners bullpen this season, his first with the club. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound native of Fort Lauderdale, FL, joined the Mariners in a seven-player trade that sent Robinson Canó and Edwin Díaz to New York (NL) last December. He signed a two-year, $14-million contract with the Mets on December 15, 2017.

Wow. Are the Braves crazy or what?

Arodys Vizcaino had a 1.60 ERA in 2015, 2.83 in 2017, 2.11 in 2018... and they traded him for this moron? He's currently hurt, but who tf cares?

Biddle was great last year with a 3.11 ERA in 63 innings... but has struggled this year. I suppose this is the answer for DFAing Rosscup.

Are both going to be in the 40 man roster?

I guess vizcaino probably misses the entire season and is a FA after this year. Probably just taking back some salary. Saves Mariners 3 million and they have rights to Biddle.

As Lenny Dykstra once said, "Great trade! Who did we get?"

The part I can’t understand, about Biddle: “The Mariners hope they’ll be able to turn him around to his 2018 form.”

Since when have the Mariners been able to turn anyone “around” ? It seems that all we can do is turn them over.

Who cares lol?

Swarzak is gone. This is like trading Jose Mesa or Bobby Ayala at their worst.

Mariners save 3 million dollars. That was the biggest part of this trade.

Hey! They turned Felix around to his 2009 form, didn't they?

This of course further increases the Cano/Diaz return, as it's hard to imagine worse than Swarzak. But it will be interesting to see how Swarzak does in Atlanta and back in the NL.

I gotra say JD does have a knack for shedding negative assets - it will be nice if he hits on even one of these two fine gentlemen. These guys both seem better than JD's usual dumpster dive finds.

This gives me more hope for Bruce's trade value, although I'm still hovering near 0%. And on this subject, it'd be smart to trade Leake ASAP before this defense jacks up his stats with more earned runs that really should be unearned.
