78% of M's fans trust them to make good draft picks

You can't make this stuff up.

Lookout Landing did a poll. albeit very limited sample size and 78% of the fans believe in the M's ability to pick well in the draft.
Well, I hope they're right
The Mariners under Jerry Dipoto have mostly skewed towards polished collegiates with their first two or three picks, sometimes throwing analysts for a loop with their choices. Overall, however, it seems like Mariners fans are willing to trust this FO with the draft.......................

.................We’re still working with a fairly limited data set of first and second-round choices, and major injuries have derailed the careers of two of those players (Kyle Lewis and Sam Carlson), but generally people seem to trust this FO’s selections. While this might seem like a lofty number, the Mariners actually rank fourth in the AL West, with only Rangers fans showing less confidence in their team’s ability to make a solid draft choice (at 69%, not-nice, but also, probably, fair). 80% of A’s fans trust their FO, 90% of Angels fans, and, unsurprisingly, 100% of Astros fans. Apparently the Brady Aiken/Mark Appel days are long behind them.

Not everything works out. There are times you make all the right decisions and still lose. Injury risk and size was a reason given why the M's pulled off of drafting the Freak Tim Lincecum and instead drafted Morrow who was good just not a CY starter. So then a few years later they use #2 on Hultzen who had a funky risky delivery but was a bad ass until his arm fell off on the eve of getting called up.

I think this front office is pretty good at evaluating talent. They grab Beckham which looks pretty good, Brennan is another success story, Narvaez has looked like a good deal return so far, Marco G, Kikuchi, Domingo Santana was an excellent get for what they gave up and the only reason he doesn't have high WAR is the 8 errors his previous high was 5 in 144 games.

I have liked a number of M's picks
Right now Logan Gilbert is my guy.
Sam Carlson is another pick I really like injured but Ace potential.

At the end of the day I say yes JD has the chops to evaluate players.
