If I can only pray about the success of one and the rest is "chips fall as they may" I hope we get a healthy and dominant Sam Carlson from here on out. Sheffield can be a huge bust for all I care.

This is unbelievable. The guy that shut us down last night was picked one pick after Carlson who has pitched a total of three pro innings.

2017 2 55 FrRnd 19 Mariners Y Sam Carlson (minors)
2017 2 56 FrRnd 20 Astros Y Corbin Martin (minors)

Well Corbin Martin was also a college arm and a full 3 yrs older than Sam. It's only been 2 seasons lost for Sam's development and while he hasn't pitched he's been growing into his body, that development hasn't been slowed. Once he's able to pitch again he'll fly through the system.

Yes, I am sure he has far higher upside than Martin but just quite a coincidence that we could have drafted the guy that shut us down while our guy is still rehabbing in AZ.

you do realize the squad he shut down is a squad that is rolling towards the no. 1 pick in 2020? It ain't like he's out there facing the 97 M's

I mean at this point Servais and Dipoto are out there fielding a team that they want to lose every day. And we should be happy that they are. 2020 draft is looking nice apparently and the higher we get to that no. 1 and blaze jordan or Spencer Tork, shiiiiiit. That's HUGE

Sam Carlson is still only 20. He still has at least 3-4 years to solidly turn it around
