More banners the Mariners should raise

Post by DavidGee24 » Tue Jun 04, 2019 8:16 pm

Woodinville Coug posted on another thread a photoshopped banner saying "2019 WE STARTED 13-2", and I thought about the dearth of banners the organization has hanging from the rafters and what can we do to get more up there, because this organization really does have a plethora of accomplishments.

So let's come up with some ideas. Like the ones we have now, the banner has to list the year and then the accomplishment. I'll go first:

1981
(outlines of a baseball and Lenny Randle on all fours with his lips pushing outward and wind lines coming out of his mouth)
FOUL BALL

Plenty of room for a banner for each year the Mariners finished over .500.

Good grief, I expected you guys to knock this one out of the park. Here, let me give you another one:

2008
(outline of player face-planting with dollar signs in place of stars)
100 MILLION DOLLAR PAYROLL
100 LOSSES

Think unique baseball "accomplishments".

The banner would have whatever a horrible trade icon would look like - it would say "1997 - Jason Varitek and Derek Lowe for Heathcliff Fucking Slocumb"

The point is to gloat about a unique "accomplishment" that really isn't one. Here's a third:

1970
(outline of moving truck with "Milwaukee" on the side)
SUCKERS

How about a banner for the most consecutive seasons without a banner? Or conversely we could go for most banners without a World Series appearance.
