Skyfall ~ Haniger= Guti

I checked mlbtr
11:09pm: Haniger underwent a discectomy, which “removes part or the whole intervertebral disc,” Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times writes.

8:50pm: Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger underwent surgery on Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN reports. It’s the second procedure Haniger has undergone since he had core surgery three weeks ago. It’s unclear when he’ll be able to come back, but there will be a significant delay to the start of his season, according to Passan.

Core injury, fine but the intervertebral disc removal. It is not the surgery itself but what caused the bulging or burst disc.

I think most of us liked the trade. Walker had a great year directly following the trade (135 ERA+) but we had Segura a SS with a 110-120 OPS+ bat and the big get was Haniger 127, then 135 OPS+ an A.S. and #11 in MVP 6.1 WAR 2018. Then he Busts the nut, core injury, and now the bulging/burst disc surgery.

This is eerily reminding me of the Guti trade.Just saying.
