5.88 ERA in Tacoma in 19 relief appearances, 44 K's in 33 innings, 3-2 record.
Scott will become the first player from an African nation to pitch in the big leagues.

Welcome to the show, player with two first names, Tayler Scott. carpe diem :!:  :!:

Meanwhile, nothing like a good, ol' ruptured testicle to start your 10 day I.L. vacation with, is there? OUCH! Heal quickly and painlessly, Mr. Haniger.

The Mariners announced today that outfielder Mitch Haniger has been placed on the 10-day injured list. He has been diagnosed with a ruptured testicle, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times tweets.

That’s obviously not a run-of-the-mill injury for a ballplayer, though unfortunately it’s also not unheard of. There is no indication at this point how long Haniger will be sidelined.

In happier news, the M’s have selected the contract of righty Tayler Scott, as Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported earlier on Twitter. Scott, 27, carries a 5.88 ERA with a 44:19 K/BB ratio in 33 2/3 innings over 19 appearances at Triple-A this year. He’ll make his MLB debut after signing a minors deal with the Seattle organization over the winter.

I thought former M's S. African pitcher Dylan Unsworth would be the first South African pitcher in the MLB. He was with the M's AA Arkansas in 2017 but elected to become a free agent, signed with the Angels and played in their farm system. Elected to become a free agent at the end of 2018. Looks like he played some winter ball with Caracas in Venezuela and now??? Unknown. Dylan Chowles Unsworth is still only 26.

I don't get how they want to risk it with only 2 bench players. The odds are against them both getting hurt, but it seems like an unnecessary risk.

Funny/painful article about some different guys who prefer not to wear cups:

Highlight:.
"...and after the game, Valdespin had no use for euphemisms. When asked where the pitch hit him, he responded, 'My dick.' "

That's a cringe, grimace and squeal article. You feel it while your reading it. You knoe, Haniger, depending on the severity could miss 6, 8 or more weeks.

Poor Mitch. First the face, now this. It is not often, though, that the Mariners bust their own balls.

If Beckham PH for Long and Mallex gets hurt, then you have the backup catcher at 1B (or lose the DH with VB at 1B), Encarnacion at 2B, Beckham in LF, and either Santana or Williamson in CF.

The M's had 24 pitchers and 16 position players on the 40 man, not counting the 60 day IL players.

Of the 16 position players, 5 are on the IL. The other 11 are on the 25 man - none are currently optioned down.

To me, they should have filled Cordero's position the 40 man with a position player. It would have made the number of pitchers and position players on the 40 man more balanced.
