Predict Our Final Record

Post by maoling » Sun Jun 16, 2019 2:46 pm

Looks like I picked the perfect season to quit sniffing Mariners' glue. Never done this before in 42 seasons, but I quit watching and caring in late April. It's been a profoundly liberating experience.

A quick check of our current record has us at 30-44, but that record is deceiving because of our fake news hot start. The cold reality is that the M's are 17-42 and playing at .288 winning pct. since then. After factoring in the 13-2 fake news, Coug math tells me we will finish at 55-107 which will be good enough for the Mariners worst 162-game season in history. This should earn Dipoto an additional raise and extension, according to Mariners' corporate logic.

Ultimately, after September call-ups, I think they will probably finish even worse. My final prediction is 52-110.

Do you think they have what it takes to be our worst team ever?

Your 52 wins takes us out of the top ten tanking teams in mlb history. We can easily lose 110 games this year

I had us at 69 wins before the season started at the old forum and it looked really stupid after the hot start. Now it’s a fairly positive forecast

:D I was over-the-top in predicting 87 wins at the start of the season. If we are at 30 right now, it might take until June of 2020 to notch our 87th.

Love how Dipoto gently referred to this season as "a step back." This is closer to a triple back handspring off the 60-meter board.

I certainly would not bet against your 52-110 prediction.

yeah, i thought the point was to predict the final record which includes the hot start. Was curious since you mentioned fivethirtyeight where they had them, 71 wins as i read it, we shall see

We’ll get a better idea next home stand against KC and Baltimore. Who really is the worst? Go Mariners.

I’m surprised they had us at 71 when I looked. It seems we are worse than that, but we shall see.
