Gamethread Fraley Debut.. Sheffield v Horrible Pitcher

Post by AT Funchal-Madeira » Sat Aug 22, 2020 9:01 pm

The Texas Rangers (not official lineup, but the Mariners is official)
Jordan Lyles R
1-2 7.52 ERA

LF S. Choo L
DH D. Santana S
CF Nick Solak R
3B Todd Frazier R
RF Joey Gallo L
SS I. Kiner-Falefa R
2B Rougned Odor L
1B R. Refsnyder R
C Jose Trevino R

The Seattle Mariners (Unfortunately Dylan Moore goes to ten day injury list.... White is back in lineup and welcome Jake Fraley)
Justus Sheffield L
1-2 4.12 ERA

Confirmed Lineup
SS J. Crawford L
LF Sam Haggerty S
CF Kyle Lewis R
3B Kyle Seager L
C Austin Nola R
1B Evan White R
RF Jake Fraley L
DH Tim Lopes R
2B Shed Long L

Eric Swanson and Taylor Gilbeau also hit the ten day injured list.... Up comes Aaron Fletcher and Hirano... Everyday we see someone new....There are growing pressures to add an additional fifteen players to the number of players in the "alternate training site". That would enable the coaches at the site to field two teams for practice and it would give space for additional prospects and organizational insurance type players to get back to work... https://www.lookoutlanding.com/2020/8/1 ... rnate-site

So Fletcher was another guy that was rotting away down Tacoma while we got to watch Shaw and all of the other clowns. 24 years old throws mid-to-high 90s. Kelenic was like oh for 12 against them.

I was considering making a "Fletcher Debut" thread. He was the return for Elias and Strickland trade last year. He is #21 on the M's list so he has some "stuff". In the same mlbtr thread it mention Hirano and Guilbau to the 10 day.

I actually believe the M's have the advantage in the match-ups. I mean no Dee or Malex is a step-up.

So glad Evan White is back in the lineup today and is back as our 1st sacker.
He's my pick to click on Fraley Debut day.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

Not Fraley? In other good news, the Pirates are heating up.
Looking for two wins in a row, they are leading 5-1 in the fifth inning. By game time, the M's could well gain ground on the leader for #1 draft choice....

Angels now have a worse record than the Mariners, and a few more wins agains the Rangers, and they will too. I'm not going to be actively cheering for a loss, but if the bullpen blows a lead, I won't be too upset with that result
The poster formerly known as Kingfelixk. With a new forum comes a new boardname. Julio is my guy, plus we share a birthday, so that's Culiooooo

Today's pitching matchup is a good reason why it's asinine to root for "draft position" in baseball besides the fact it means so little.

Don't we want to see Sheffield go out there and shut teams down? Don't we want to see these young hitters go out there and rake? What really do you root for, for Sheffield to get pummeled and our young hitters to put up 0-fers, or maybe Sheffield to pitch decent, our young hitters to get a few hits, but then lose the game in the late innings because we can't get key outs or key hits? How exactly does that help this team learn how to win? These are young male human beings, not avatars with an automatic development curve. Losing more than 2/3 of your games to get a top-three pick doesn't make you a better team.

Yep and I'd rather have the dual-threat high school kid than the two college pitchers

Good question....I want the young players to excel and I want a premium draft pick.... maybe two or three rounds of premium picks... Right now the Pirates are crushing the Brewers 12-4 in the 8th inning. Boston plays Baltimore and they're due to start soon. So, I don't get too upset with a loss. But right now I feel I'm gonna be stuck with a few more game threads... 8-) 8-)
