I am not going to totally disagree with you but a couple more middle inf prospects would not be a bad thing for long term health
The M's farm is not as strong as Mayo suggests, imo. The Mets have six in the top 100 also. We have some nice pieces, but we don't have a "surplus" anywhere and a third or more of those top thirty won't really have any impact in the majors.... I think we should still be acquiring prospects, younger players, and building our minor league depth... just my opinion. But until we have a solid confidence in Lewis, and production out of Kelenic at the major league level, along with a couple other pitchers along with Gonzales and Sheffield, etc, like maybe Gilbert and Kirby or Hancock..... if we achieve that it's then time to move "suplus" to fill in any area and seriously contend...
The scary thing about trading thoae prospects is what if we trade the wrong ones? What if we trade Kirby and he turns out to be great and Hancock flops? I think we should give them all a shot and look for other players via free agency like Pat Gillick did.AT Fresno wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 7:35 pmThe M's farm is not as strong as Mayo suggests, imo. You're right.... we still have a lot of junk in our trunk... I want to keep all our top ten except Fraley, all the second ten with the exceptions of Bishop and Fletcher, and not concerned about the third ten except wanting to hold on to Wyatt Mills, Tyler Keenen, and possibly LJ Newsome...
