I saw Jim Bowden mentioned him as a possible trade piece. I had never thought of or heard that before. Seems reasonable though.

Youth + Promise + Controlled years = VALUE
Old Man + Spotty record + Upcoming Free Agent = WASTE OF TIME
There will be exceptions...

Elias has been pretty good.
1st round he was a 90's ERA+ starter and that works in the 3-4-5 spot.
2nd round he was a 50 inning swingman 4 starts in 23 games 156 ERA+ 2018
3rd round 123 ERA+ and has been the closer by elimination.
I would not let him go for anything outside of an org. top 10 type.

He is inexpensive with lots of control left as well.....

I guess if they get a good deal. The M's pen is bad and when they trade Leake they'll be needing innings. It could end up with a few arms strained. On the positive side, they should be getting Strickland and Tuivailala back.

Elias is pretty much an average major league relief pitcher. The best reaction he'll get from anyone is "Well...he's decent". Might as well keep him, his value to us is that he's a lefty coming out of the bullpen.
