Seperation in standings/ minor league promotions?

Post by AT Funchal-Madeira » Wed Jun 09, 2021 4:46 pm

As the MLB moves closer to the halfway mark than it was to the 1/4 mark, we are starting to see seperation in the MLB standings: The Rays and Red Sox have opened up 4 games on the Yankees and Toronto, The A's and Astros have seperated themselves from the M's and Angels, and the White Sox are alone 4 games ahead of Cleveland.

The same thing is happening in the National League whit the Mets and Braves pulling away from Philadelphia, the Brewers and Cubs opening up some distance on the Cardinals and the surprising Giants opening up some daylight on the Dodgers and Padres.

I'm not counting the Yankees, Toronto, Dodgers, Padrs, or Cardinals out but they are all feeling uneasy and perhaps a bit motivated as we near the trading deadlines to do something. Motivation can be transformed into desperation which creates opportunities.

On the Mariner minor league affiliates, teams have cooled from their hot first quarter, particularly the pitching. I hope to see more innings by Kirby and Hancock moving forward. There should be some position players being promoted, Obviously Cal Raleigh has to be near a callup, he is forcing the issue, especially with the power display. Behind him O'Keefe might be promoted quickly to AAA.... Jack Larsen should be leaving Everett for SArkansas, and if Julio Rodriguez continues what he's been doing in Everett after a spectacular stint of qualifying with his countrymen for the Olympics, then Julio should be following Larsen to Dicky-Stephens Park in the next few weeks. It'll be a lot tougher there for both of them.
