At what point is prospect development a priority over acting like Kyle Seager and Dee Gordon will ever be worth anything.
In my opinion, Dee Gordon goes at the deadline, trade or DFA.
Kyle Seager probably platoons with Healy for the rest of the season if Healy comes back. Then what? I know what I'd do, what about you guys?

I'm not being funny here because I really can't think straight this am, but who are they holding up developmentally?

Dee is sort of holding up Shed... even though he's been hurt.
Seager isn't holding anyone up. We have a black hole at 3B in our farm system.

3B Austin Shenton is quite a ways off, but delivers some hope. We do need to stockpile some infielders in next year's draft as well as some catching and more pitching.
2019: .344/.436/.581, 11-2B, 3B, 3 HR, 20 RBI, 11 BB, 19 SO

Rizzo is showing signs of life but at least 2 years away and he needs to make another jump next season similar to the one he has made this season. So I wouldn't call it a black hole but maybe a gray hole.

We need to take the BPA with our first pick next June but hopefully it will be a 3B.

Good point and he is actually a couple months older than Rizzo. He could definitely pass him by next season.

2021 is the year Mariners could start contending, but realistically it will be 2022. I do not see Seager being traded because of his salary, and he isn't blockig anyone. I imagine the Mariners will let Rizzo and Shenton Simmer in the minors for the next 2 years and Seager plays out his contract while providing good D and nothing with the bat.
He will be the Felix of the lineup the next 2 years. Just have to wait ot his contract, and maybe hope for extended DL trips.

Just rip the band off and be done with those two. Totally agree they should both be gone by the deadline. SUNK COST!

That just prolongs the agony. Just bring up Shed when his ready and Lopes. At least there is a chance they can be good eventually.
