I don't know anything about, I said that is what he looks like. You guys are all the experts lolCaptain 97 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 4:46 pmI thought you said you don't know anything about pitching mechanics.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 4:08 pmI don't see a violent recoil, if anything, he seems to stay very upright. To me he seems to be more lobbing pitches, seems like a pretty easy motion. He doesn't seem to be drive

Re: Sodo's Twins trade
Looks fine to me, what I meant was there might not be a lot of difference between a negative 10 player and a negative 30, negative is negative... so...Evan White for Josh Donaldson. Would we want to do that? You were saying White wasn't tradable. So the Twins should be all over thatD-train wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 4:42 pmThey are valuing thousands of players, it will be easy to find some weirdness. Just like PFF.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 4:41 pmand if you are dealing with negative values might not be that accurate...So White for Josh Donaldson?...

Here is Carson Smith. Hancock isn't as bad but I definitely see similarities. btw He hasn't pitched since May 14th 2018.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 3:49 pmhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CjBepd7gnQ
Doesn't look like he has very smooth mechanics to me me. He has a very violent recoil on his follow through that makes it look like he is over throwing.

Thanks for posting that. I didn't understand everything said, but it sounds like there were some areas of concern this guy had with the delivery and throwing cross body, but nothing truly definitive. I do hope the M's can turn him into a ML pitcher, but I think it will take some time.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 12:38 pmbreakdown of Handcock's delivery

Re: Sodo's Twins trade
yeah, and its relative to other pitchers, he seems pretty impressed seems to me
Re: Sodo's Twins trade
The issue is that he's barely pitched the last two years. They pulled him early in the season at Georgia, which is how he fell to us, and then the M's basically shut him down for the rest of 2020. There was no minor league season, but I suppose they could have had him at the alternate site. And then this year he pitched 44 innings over two levels, and pitched well. But they kept skipping him in the rotation. It's just hard to imagine how you build that up to 160+ innings per year. But maybe. The M's have a pretty great reputation for pitcher development, so it's possible.

Re: Sodo's Twins trade
yeah, even Jerry calling the approach conservative...can't find anything pointing at mechanics as being the issue
“Just a conservative management decision as we continue to build his workload,” Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto
