Matt Olson and Luis Castillo are available for trade
The A's have opened up Olson for trade talk and the Cincinatti Reds have opened up Luis Castillo for trade offers. Dipoto should make phone calls to both clubs and try to lock these two guys up....Both Olson and Castillo have two years of team control before free agency.....
Yes they will both cost prospects but that's the opening for a couple blockbuster deals that could set the M's up... Get creative and don't let these guys go to the Yankees

The A's only have 28 players on their 40 man roster and won't be making up the rest with Rule 5 protections. Maybe we can get Olson with quantity. I'd like to get Castillo. I wonder if Dipoto counts Kelenic as a prospect (I wouldn't do it for Olson, but I'd trade him for Luis Castillo).

That’s probably gonna get some push back from around here lolice99 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 11:41 pmThe A's only have 28 players on their 40 man roster and won't be making up the rest with Rule 5 protections. I could see an Olson trade around a guy like Hancock.
Or Stoudt/Williamson if Hancock is really untouchable.
I think ice is right, quantity could get it done. 1B don't typically draw the trade value as other positions because most good teams have a good 1B.

I could see the Yankees going hard after Olson, and they historically don't give two shits about what prospects they have to give up. I could see Peraza leading that package. Maybe Peraza, Wells, and an arm. Or something like that.

Quantity for Olson? Did they hire Jack Z for their new GM. lol

Either JD is completely full of shit or we have no chance at either of those guys.

They haven't done a major teardown in a while. Didn't they trade Donaldson for a bunch of prospects?

Yep, looks to me the A's got fleeced other than Mariner legend Kendall Graveman of course.

November 28, 2014: Traded by the Oakland Athletics to the Toronto Blue Jays for Franklin Barreto, Kendall Graveman, Brett Lawrie and Sean Nolin.

I think Williamson is the biggest prize at the moment out of those three. That would be the hardest one for me to swallow at this point, but I'd gladly do it for M. Olson, as I think acquiring a left handed power bat is more crucial than a SP that could possibly be had in free agency. I would try to trade Stoudt or Hancock though before Williamson if I could. I've been hearing great things about Brandon from Baseball America. He was a steal in the 2nd Rd.
