Javier Baez signing with Detroit
5 years $95 million
I cannot find any factual evidence on this. It might be fake.

Re: Javier Baez signing with Detroit
I kind of wondered if Baez would be the first of the 5 shortstops to sign. He's basically the fifth of the five, and my thinking was that he might just jump at whatever reasonable deal came his way.
And now the situation with the SS market is kind of interesting. With Detroit settled on Baez and the Yankees holding back, I think the rest of these guys will sign lesser deals than what they had in mind.

So much for the Correa to detroit idea. The big FA target is still on the board with his former manager and seemingly former team out of it.

Teams are starting to drop off the board in the Correa hunt

If it was me I'd be going 5-6 years & $40 million. That was you don't hamstring yourself completely. That's still a pretty good deal. I'd definitely throw in some injury protection just in case. He'd be dumb to pass up an opportunity like that.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 8:23 pmNobody wants to touch 10 year mega deals. All the little guys are getting scooped up. Gonna be all "Bryce Harpered Up" in here to the wire!

It sounds like Seattle had the money on the years, but the not the years for Semien. I still have hope though.HawkandMariner88 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 9:23 pmIf it was me I'd be going 5-6 years & $40 million. That was you don't hamstring yourself completely.
