Minor League Updates

Orlando Calixte is looking pretty good in AAA as far as utility players go.

Looks like he was blocked in SF and Dipoto signed him as a free agent. Looks like a use him or lose him kind of guy. Dylan Moore could probably use some daily at bats in Tacoma.

Here's what I think I might do given our current situation.

Send Dylan Moore and Mallex Smith to AAA and give Calixte the only UTIL role, bring an extra RP up. He has played CF, LF, 3B, SS, 2B. Leads the Rainiers in SB and has only played in 12 games. Perfect utility player.

Well at least Smoth goes down! If Bishop can handle CF that would be a pleasant surprise

Jethawks at Nuts in Advanced A. Top of the 8th, 1 - 1 tie.

Ljay Newsome is still doin' it right. He pitched 7 full innings Carlos (not Felix) Hernandez just relieved Ljay. Newsome gave up 6 hits (1 dbl), 1 run, no walks and another 8 K's on 92 pitches. ERA down to 1.47.

Cal Raleigh hit his 4th HR to account for Modesto's run.

Good. He needs to move quickly. Wouldn't mind seeing him in AA by the end of the year.

Noooo he doesn't meed to be moved quickly, glad he has been promoted but the kid has time on his side.

Rizzo had another good game and the OPS is slowly creeping up too. Not sure if anyone caught that West Virginia just won a series with just 7 hits in two games, kelenic had 4 of those hits.

Possible good news in the minors for the Mariners sinking bullpen.
Date Transaction
05/01/19 Seattle Mariners sent RHP Sam Tuivailala on a rehab assignment to Modesto Nuts.
Pronunciation: \too-ee-vai-LULL-lah\ ............ and I still can't say it but he's a quality bullpen arm. Maybe get rid of those bum relievers Dylan Moore with the 36.00 ERA or Tom Murphy (18.00 ERA).

Seriously, what current roster RH reliever would you replace with too-ee-vai-LULL-lah?

Fraley having himself a day with 3 hits and 2 HR. White and DTW each have 2 hits including a double. Lewis is 1-3 with a BB. Dunn has a good game with the exception of Juremi Profar (Juricksons brother if the funky spelling didn't give it away) who has 3 of the 5 hits against him, and is a triple away from the cycle. 6 K and 2 ER (2R HR for Profar) in 6 ip 0 BB.

WV got crushed 10-0, but Kelenic was able to keep his hitting streak going with a late double, going 1-4.

I don't think they need to rush him, I just think he's good enough that he needs to spend time in AA and AAA as soon as possible. He has the talent to mow down the lower divisions without much trouble, but think he may learn more once he gets to the higher levels.
