I guess there were only 4 left hand hitters in the top 50 and maybe the Washington Nationals signed the best free agent... Looks like he got the most money....Vaquero -- who is nicknamed "The Phenomenon" -- is also one of the most athletic. Sounds like Ken Griffey Jr. except he's a switch hitter...

Originally a left-handed hitter, the outfielder learned to switch-hit when he left Cuba, which has resulted in improved pitch recognition and more confidence at the plate. At 6-foot-3 and close to 190 pounds, he is a physical specimen with tons of raw strength and power. He can really cover ground in center field, shows a strong arm and has a chance to be a plus defender at the position. He plays hard with lots of energy and shows tons of natural instinct in practice and in games.

I just read a Sodo article on Montes. I don’t know about the others but he sounds like a stud. The Alvarez comps for power sound great sane trainer.

They say he plays center now which is great if he can stick there like Griffey did it makes him more valuable. The some say he is top 5 vs 8 is also a plus. Our Latin America pipeline certainly seems to be heating up. Julio-Marte-Aguilar-Montes train of top prospect adding to the drafted side is H-U-G-E!

One thing about. The IFA s is that they are so far away the Sodo script had him arriving at age 22 in 2027 maybe as early as 2026. Let’s hope he develops the same kind of Buzz that the previous guys generated. Did anybody look at Gabe Gonzalez and his .892 debut ?

Our IFA top prospects already account for a good percentage of out top 30
"\#30 Juan Pinto lefty pitcher
# 29Luis Bolivar 70 grade run 60 field 55 arm OF
# 22 Clase OF 70 grade run
# 21 Alberto Rodriguez Walker trade but still an IFA Some have him now in our top 10
# 17 Gabe Gonzalez 890 OPS debut
# 16 Aguilar 1.5 million the highest his year but has already moved off SS to 3B and a .720 OPS
#14 Juan Then power arm has developed had sub 3 ERA prior to Covid returning for a 6 ERA
#13 Milkar Perez 3B 70 arm 55 bat 3B between rookie ball and Modesto A ball he had a shocking .455 OBP and a scant 0.069 ISO and a nice .310 average
#2 Marte
#1 Julio

That is a full 1/3rd of our top 30 brought in by IFA's I know we traded for Alberto and traded back for Then but I am sure we also traded others out that would be worthy of ranking or counting as IFA wins. ( Pablo Lopez and his last 2 years 126 and 136 ERA+ for example.

My .02$

I think they have done a great job in international signings. That's part of the reason I think it's OK they have drafted so much pitching.

I still don't know why Then is highly regarded though. I don't actually see the performance, and what he's working on, so it's hard to say what the potential is. At some point he needs to start pricing out on the field though.

I'm really interested to see Milkar progress and see if he can add a little pop to his seemingly elite eye and pitch recognition. Supposedly he has a Cannon arm at 3B.
The poster formerly known as Kingfelixk. With a new forum comes a new boardname. Julio is my guy, plus we share a birthday, so that's Culiooooo

I wouldn't call that swing impressive. Young guy though.
