Who's your favorite flash in the pan?

Post by Case_Of_The_Runs » Thu Jan 20, 2022 12:03 am

Nothing to do during the strike except metaphysical navel gaze - so here's a bit of lint for y'all: who's your favorite Mariner who had an extremely (1 season or less) tenure?

My vote is either for Dae Ho Lee (damn I would like to go out for noodles with him sometime), or Bucky Jacobson (damn I would like to go out for a beer or 10 with him sometime).

Both of these guys just made me smile when they played. Yeah, they figured out how to pitch around Dae Ho, and Bucky was plagued by craptastic knees that kept him from doing much after a handful of games with the M's. But they both made me enjoy the M's just a little more.

My first thought was Bucky but have to go with Mark "Hittin" Whiten. Only 40 games but hit .300/1.006

I remember him...vaguely. Damn, what a batting stance. He looks like he's going to tip over.

You should remember him. Best offensive game in the history of baseball in 1993

He is kinda a clown. Not in a good way. One of my friends walked up to me from outside. Bucky asked what was going on outside and he told him some shit-talking and maybe a degeneration into fighting might occur. Bucky replied, Why don't you go outside and keep them away from my Hummer. :o What a dick.

Oh and the bar was called the Midway bar and grill. It is kinda a pool hall, outdoor, dance, bar. They had like watermelon wrestling and stuff like that. It was fun now and then.

But Bucky is the 1st flash in the pan I thought of. Dae Ho Lee was another. BUt I would also think of Dave Flemming 33 starts as a rookie 17-10 3.38 ERA 5.1 WAR he would end his career with 5.3.

His batting line in 51 games as a Mariner reads:

51 162 23 53 9 0 4 27 0 0 23 16 .327 .410 .457 .866 142 74 3 1 0 2 0

Name this former Mariner
