His OBP is fantastic but the power is light. I decided to compare to Julio but unfortunately Julio did not play at age 19 because of Covid:

Julio
Age 18 367 PAs 12 HRs
Age 20 340 PAs 13 HRs

Harry
Age 19 499 PAs 11 HRs

So not far off.

As I understand it power generally is something you develop. At 19 you might not want him swinging for the fences, maybe that's Watson's issue.

Edgar's was already 20 when he had that first horrid season. In 126 PAs he had 1 double, 1 triple and ZERO HRs. A .202 SLG%

The next season he had 32 doubles, 2 triples and 15 HRs. What happened during that off season???

JK at age 19
23 HRs in 500 PAs.

JK in MLB
21 HRs in 558 PAs

I don't know about anecdotal evidence from individual players, how about jay buhner, did his power relate to opening his stance?

Jay started controlling the zone.

1987-92 1833 PAs 189 BBs 467 Ks
1993-01 4094 PAS 603 BBs 939 Ks

More than 3x the walks and only about double the Ks.

Maybe Watson is just uncoachable. Maybe the Mariners didn't like his attitude and that's why they passed.

Can't believe someone predicted we would pick Harry Ford. :)

I put Harry Ford's 2022 numbers into Excel and got this breakdown.

Will be fun when they trade him and Celesten for another pitcher in 3 years.
The poster formerly known as Kingfelixk. With a new forum comes a new boardname. Julio is my guy, plus we share a birthday, so that's Culiooooo
