Here's some video on Tyler Locklear, over a year old but using a wood bat, so maybe it was the Cape Cod league or some sort of showcase game? This is the best open side footage I've found on him. You can tell he's strong as fuck.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mZSN0KDS1w

And here's some footage from four years ago. This is batting practice and every pitch is high. In fact, all the footage I've seen of him has him hitting high in the zone, which again is another reason I think he needs to rework the swing. Professional pitchers will just go low in the zone on him until he proves he can nail those pitches too.

And here's another one. He hits a homer here in an actual game, but with a metal bat. Look how high the pitch is. It's almost like he just sticks the bat out there and kind of flicks it. But strong as he is, that won't work in the majors and probably not in the minors either. So he's going to have to rework the swing and retrain himself as a hitter, probably.

I could see Locklear moving quickly through the minors, but I really wonder about this swing as it currently stands. I mean, maybe he can make it work as is. I doubt it, but we'll see.

Miller may retain more value as a trade chip by staying in the minors. This could be important if neither JK nor Trammell are cutting it and you need to make a move.
Maybe. I think they would trade forced or Gonzales if there were any takers. Neither are that valuable as relievers, and they don’t have a spot for both to start. I wish they would trade both honestly.
I assume you mean "Flexen or Gonzales". The problem is that neither will get you the kind of player you'll need if LF turns out to be a big gaping hole like it very well could be. But Miller, if he comes out of the gate at AA and dominates, will likely jump to the top of the list of pitching prospects. He's already being talked about; it's only his lack of draft pedigree that's keeping his prospect status in check right now. But 8 strong weeks at AA could change that.

Of course, 8 strong weeks in MLB would do even more for his prospect status, probably. But there's some risk there, much more of a chance of two or three bad innings marring an otherwise strong record. Also, even if he pitches really well at MLB, there's simply more scrutiny and statcast will be there to record movement and location of every single pitch he throws. It's also likely that if he makes the team and does well, the front office is less likely to want to trade him, which would be a good thing, but then Hancock becomes your main trade chip and he may not have the same value. Or there's more pressure to include Brash in a deal.
They are vying for fifth starter on one of the best rotations in baseball. Think it's more weighing offers than there being no takers.

Think we got Pollock for left field if all else fails

Problem with Pollock is that he was almost as bad as JK vs. RHPs last season. .593 OPS.

This is Tyler's Dad. Literally EVERY one of his tweets is like this. I double dog dare you to suggest to him that his son needs a swing change.

Go ahead, see what he says. LOL

Article arguing his 2022 splits are misleading, he isn't that good against lefties or that bad against righties.
https://www.lookoutlanding.com/platform ... ess-splits
. To be clear, I’m not saying he’s not better against lefties. He is. He’s just not as good against lefties as you might think. But conversely, he’s not nearly as bad against righties as he was last year. My expectations are for a good, but not great hitter no matter who he’s facing. So don’t freak out at Scott Servais if you see Pollock facing a right-hander. Between injuries and the team’s current DH situation, he’s likely to do that a fair bit. It’ll probably be fine

Yeah, I'm not gonna go there. For one thing, I'm just not that confident in my own analysis. I think I'm on the right track, probably, but there are exceptions to every rule and he could be one of them.

I'm not seeing where his father comes into it, if GL feels there are issues with his swing so be it. Not seeing why he has to convince the father, it's not like Locklear is in little league

Oh, I think DT was just joking around. But I really am NOT AT ALL confident in my take on his swing. I'm well inside Dunning-Kruger territory.
