I didn't say wanting him back, it was regretting trading him. Isn't that the logical conclusion from losing a trade? You would rather have had cano to complain about

The fact dipoto moved canos contract in the first place seemed amazing, that he got an actual perspect out of it seemed beyond belief. So now that JK is struggling we regret the trade...You guys would have rather had cano to kick around...ok
Since the trade our second basemen have put OPS of .697 in 2019, .604 in 2020 and .653 in 2021. Cano put up a .765 OPS for the Mets during his time there so its not like having Cano "kicking around" would have made the team any worse. Moving the contract was amazing for the owners pockets but It did jack squat for the team. They didn't spend a penny of it on new players so I couldn't care less about unloading the contract.

From an on the field point of view they would have been better off keeping Cano and Diaz. Probably would have made the playoffs last year because they wouldn't have had Kelenic sucking the life out of the lineup for half the year and they also wouldn't have needed that debacle of a trade for Diego Castillo.

ok...For the amount of complaining that went on here about having Cano on the team it turns out we should have just kept him. Seems like a lesson in there somewhere

But if they keep Cano they also keep his salary, so what impact does that have on signing other players like Ray?

Yeah, who knows how events play out...fact is JK began to get hyped as another Mike Trout, the trade was seen as massively lopsided. But with JK not meeting those expectations it's now become the mariners losing the trade? Give me a break, Heyman is full of crap. The mariners were better off moving Canos contact, and I don't believe anybody here truly misses him

None. Ray basically offsets what came off the books with Seager.

Again how are the Mariners better off without Cano's contract if they don't spend that money elsewhere?

You must really be a fan of the A's ownership because they save tons of money by offloading contracts all the time.

Prospects are just frigging prospects. If you want a guarantee, buy a toaster. If they always lived up to expectations, then Ackley would be a 5 time All Star, and not a noise you make when you're clearing phlegm from your throat.

We won. The year after he was traded, Diaz tanked. He's better again, but he didn't lead the Mets to the World Series.

We got out from the albatross that is Robbie Cano. We save ourselves $45M dollars, and we don't have the embarrassment of a second PED suspension and then cutting him loose with 2 more years on his contract. Should they have spent the money they saved? Yes - and that sucks. But at least we're not spending tens of millions on a has-been, washed up, cheater.

WAR only tells half the story.

Actually there is no reason why the Mets wouldn't be leading in WAR at this point. That was the reason for the trade, immediate production for the Mets, future production for the Ms. And the $48 mil is what they still owe Cano, they will be into him for $63 mil in total

Diaz is missed, but Mariners have been fine in the bullpen. The trade isn't over. Meets are definitely winning, but Winker, Suarez and Kelenic haven't written their full story yet with the M's. Cano has with the Mets. The Gonzales/O'Niell trade, the Haniger/Marte/Segura trade, and the Crawford/Segura trades should tell everyone we are still years away from knowing how this trade works out
