Don't like this deal. I think Santana is done. It's just another Upton situation.
Yeah, his June might be like at the end of the horror movie when everyone thinks the monster/killer is dead and he comes back to life for one last time to scare people before finally dying.

My concern with Santana is that he goes back to sucking like he did in April and May once he puts on an M's jersey. Bell has be very consistent this season.
Welcome to Seattle, Carlos!
We have acquired INF Carlos Santana and cash considerations from the Royals in exchange for RHP Wyatt Mills and minor league RHP William Fleming. Santana has appeared in 52 games with the Royals this season. During the month of June, he is batting .357 with a .478 OBP and 1.032 OPS. Overall, he is slashing .216/.349/.341 with 4 home runs and 21 RBI, while appearing at first base and DH.
He must have REALLY sucked in April and May!

Yes, he did. He wasn't great last year either. Here is the best part, we got $4.3M from them. His salary this season is $10.5M but only 88 games left so $5.7M for the rest of the season. This means we are only paying him $5.7M - $4.3M or $1.4M. Now we know why he was the target vs. a better hitter like the Royals very own Benintendi who they are also shopping. All about sticking to the budget with this org.
Seattle acquired first baseman/designated hitter Carlos Santana along with cash considerations — $4,269,231 per the Associated Press — from the Royals in exchange for right-handed pitchers Wyatt Mills and Will Fleming.

The good news is even if he sucks it is a very low bar to clear to be better than half of this lineup!

Wish it was Bell but his June is encouraging.
Bell would be good but Santana is cheaper and hopefully France won't be out long.
Bell is cheaper $10M vs. $10.5M but now season Jerry asked for and got KC to pay some of his salary. Nats probably wouldn't do that so we got the lesser player because we were too cheap to add full salary.
I believe he meant cheaper,in prospect cost

If we didn't demand cash I think Bell would have cost more in terms of prospects but not a lot more.

Santana's season looks a lot like Winkers.

So just when they make a decent move they have to following it up with a moronic mind numbing move going with Knapp over OKeefe who has been busting his ass and having the best season of his career in Tacoma. What a slap in the face to him. Not only don't reward him but choose a guy with a .390 OPS over him. God I can't wait until Jerry is finally gone.
