This is why I posted that quick comparison of J-Rod and Griffey Jr., plus Ty France and Edgar. I'm beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel!
Unfortunately Griffey, Edgar and Randy played together for 5 years before they made the playoffs. Unless we want to wait around until 2027 to make the playoffs, the front office needs to get more aggressive.
Playoffs were much different then with no wild card. Not a fair comparison.
The AL had 14 teams and they never finished better than 8th. They wouldn't have made the playoffs in any format.

In 1989 they won 73 games and finished 11th in the AL.
In 1990 they won 77 games and finished 8th in the AL
In 1991 they won 83 games and finished 8th in the AL
In 1992 they won 64 games and finished 14th in the AL (last place)
In 1993 they won 82 games and finished 8th in the AL
In 1994 they went 49-63 inn the strike shortened season and finished 13th in the AL

Julio is the only player in History to hit at least 15 HR and Steal at least 20 bases in the first 81 games of his career.

I could see Jrod being hung out to dry like Andrew McCutchen was in Pittsburgh. Not that I want to be a Debbie downer or whatever but how often do you come upq with a truly great player
