Update on the WC situation Good news

Post by D-train » Wed Jul 06, 2022 3:28 pm

Currently all three WC teams are in the AL East. I don't think this is sustainable. They still have about 20 games left with the other two teams and another 10 vs. the Yankees. One of those three will finish in the low 80s or even below .500. So the only other team ahead of us is Cleveland and they are only one game over .500. Our remaining schedule is weak and after getting guys back we should be good to go. Only thing that will keep us out is under performance or more injuries.

Yup, things are shaping up nicely. TOR and TB are not great teams. They are imo actually worse than they were last yr. I think they fall off at a pretty good rate here. CLE is a .500 club at best. LAA is in a full nose dive. TEX is probably a 78 win club. I think the wild cards go to Boston, Seattle and Toronto in that order.

The last three weeks of the season, we don't face anybody with a record over .500 either as of right now. Just FYI

Yup, I was going to point this out just now. We play 6 vs OAK, 4 vs LAA, 3 vs DET, 3 vs TEX and 3 vs KC over final 19 games lol

I mean when Boston, Tampa and Toronto are battling it versus each other for a playoff spot (and the Yankees), we'll be playing the dregs of the AL who have likely already called their season, started to play minor leaguers in prep for 2023

That's really good news, seeing how this first half of the season, it seems like every team we've played (except Oakland) has either been a powerhouse all season, or in the midst of one of their really good runs. We deserve some relief from playing the good teams.

It would also help our case to go out and win. 3/4 vs Toronto. Mariners last 20 hashes are against teams that likely won't be in the race. M Mariners still have a bet good chance at woods card, and if they can somehow win a series against TOR, they could be 2-3 games above .500 at AS break

Was thinking that this morning when I saw that SD is like 2 and 8 in their last 10. It's about time. Seems like we played Cleveland, Minnesota and someone else when they were hotter than a firecracker.

Tampa Bay has...
14 with Bos
11 with Tor
10 with Baltimore
9 with NY
7 with KC
6 with CLE
6 with HOU
4 with Det
4 with LAA
3 with CIN
3 with Tex
2 with MIA
2 with MIL

Heres how I see it shaking out. 6-8 vs Bos, 5-6 vs Tor, 6-4 vs Bal, 3-6 vs NY, 5-2 vs KC, 3-3 Vs Cle, 2-4 VS Hou, 3-1 Vs Det, 2-2 vs LA2-1 Vs Cin, 2-1 vs TEX, 1-1 vs. MIA, 1-1 vs Mil. That puts them at 41-40 for the remainder of the season with a final record of 85-77

Toronto has...
15 with BAL
11 with TB
9 with BOS
7 with NY
4 with Det
4 with KC
4 with Minn
4 with Phi
4 with SEA
3 with CHC
3 with CLE
3 with LAA
3 with PIT
3 with TEX
2 with STL

I see 9-6 VS BAl, 6-5 vs TB, 4-5 vs Bos, 3-4 VS NY, 3-1 VS DET, 3-1 VS KC, 2-2 VS Minn, 2-2 vs PHI, 2-2 VS SEA, 2-1 VS CHC, 2-1 VS Cle, 2-1 VS LAA 2-1 VS Pit, 2-1 VS Tex, 1-1 VS STL. That puts them at 45-34 for the remainder of the year with a final record of 89-73

Cleveland has...
14 with CHW
12 with KC
11 with DET
8 with Minn
7 with SEA
6 with TB
4 with BOS
4 with HOU
3 with AZ
3 with BAL
3 with LAA
3 with Tex
3 with Tor
2 with SD

I see 7-7 vs CHI, 8-4 vs KC, 7-4 VS Det, 3-5 VS Minn, 3-4 VS SEA, 3-3 VS TB, 2-2 VS Bos, 1-3 VS Hou, 2-1 vs AZ, 2-1 Vs BAL, 2-1 Vs LAA, 2-1 VS Tex, 1-2 Vs Tor, 1-1 Vs SD. That puts them at 44-39 for the remainder of the year with a final record of 84-78.

I think that it is going to take 86 wins for the M's to make the last wildcard. That means a record of 45-36 to finish out the year.

Seattle has...
13 with Tex
11 with LAA
9 with Oak
7 with Hou
7 with DET
7 with Cle
6 with NY
4 with Tor
4 with WAS
3 with ATL
3 with CHW
3 with KC
2 with SD

I see 8-5 vs Tex, 6-5 VS LAA, 6-3 VS Oak, 2-5 Vs Hou, 5-2 Vs Det, 4-3 Vs Cle, 2-4 Vs NY, 2-2 vs Tor, 3-1 Vs WAS, 1-2 Vs ATL, 2-1 Vs CHW, 2-1 Vs KC, 1-1 Vs SD. That would put them right at 44-37 and 85-77 just sneaking into a tie for the last playoff spot.

I think I just convinced myself that we need to go out and be buyers on the trade market. :D
