The Astros will be after an Outfielder this winter
Re: The Astros will be after an Outfielder this winter
I think Judge will get a Rendon contract.
7 years / $250M
Any more than that and you're looking at a Miguel Cabrera level back end downside.

He turned down a 7 tear 213M offer from the Yanks. So, no on 30M AV for 7. Does he say yes to 7X35.7M, basically?
He is an MVP style bat. We need one of those.

I'd give him whatever the F he wanted, especially considering his agent is not, I repeat, is NOT Scott Boras.
Re: The Astros will be after an Outfielder this winter
He could push the envelope for an Arenado or Machado type contract, but the difference is he doesn't play one of the positions teams pay up for.
Rendon got 7/$245M at age 30
Arenado got a 9/$275M at age 30
Machado got 10/$300M at age 27
Judge is going to be in his age 31 season and he's eleven feet tall so he's likely to be hobbling around like he's running on stilts like Richie Sexson or Tony Clark before too long.
8/$280 would be the "overpay" by a year to get him to Seattle imo.

Given a choice I'd probably take Josh Bell, Carlos Rodon and a Mitch Haniger QO than committing 8 years to a giant, but the Mariners aren't likely to be in on either Bell or Rodon either.
Re: The Astros will be after an Outfielder this winter
Yeah I would be shocked if they are in on any starting pitchers. They think they have 6 now with Hancock and Dollard in the wings.

Agree on Haniger and Bell 100%.
I'm satisfied with Castillo, Ray, Gilbert, Kirby, Gonzales, and Flexen with Hancock, Miller, and Dollard waiting in the wings.
I'd be looking for another high leverage reliever to add to the bullpen. Can they really go 3 for 3 in years of domination? Maybe Boyd comes back and stays on?
