Giles DFAd
Re: Giles DFAd
Of all the criticism leveled at JD, building a bullpen should not be one of them.
Another thing is this team doesn't cut it losses like this, ever. Good move and the right ending on a failed gamble that could have paid off.

Re: Giles DFAd
Ken Giles was a measured gamble that did not pay off.
In March 2021 I paid the league minimum for Giles in my keeper fantasy league in hopes that the veteran righthander would be the Seattle closer in 2022. Giles was never activated during his nearly 17 months on my fantasy team.
Giles' removal from IL today forced me to drop a player from my fantasy roster. Instead of Giles I chose to jettison the long-term contract of Jarred Kelenic because I still harbor hope that another team will pick up Giles as a closer candidate. My team will be docked $4 from its 2023 budget because Kelenic's premature departure.

I don't play fantasy baseball just because I know myself well enough to know that it would become an all-consuming obsession, especially in a keeper league.harmony wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 10:59 pmKen Giles was a measured gamble that did not pay off.

Re: Giles DFAd
On a 28-man roster up to 10 players (plus five rookies) can be carried over for one or two years (after losing rookie eligibility). It's complicated.D-train wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 11:01 pmYour fantasy league carries over from year to year?harmony wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 10:59 pmKen Giles was a measured gamble that did not pay off.

I drafted Julio Rodriguez in June 2019 but should retain Julio through 2024.

Wow, I have never been involved but assumed everyone started from scratch with each new season.harmony wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 11:06 pmOn a 28-man roster up to 10 players (plus five rookies) can be carried over for one or two years (after losing rookie eligibility). I played one season of fantasy sports in my life. 1998 I drafted Randy Moss who had the best rookie season of all time. I won and then retired and never looked back.

Re: Giles DFAd
I played two years of fantasy football, winning in my rookie 1997 season with Steve Young, Brad Johnson, Terrell Davis, Marshall Faulk, Joey Galloway, Cris Carter, Bert Emanuel, Yancey Thigpen and Jason Elam. I had to look up a few of those names. After two seasons I retired to become the office league commissioner for about a decade.D-train wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 11:11 pmWow, I have never been involved but assumed everyone started from scratch with each new season.

Re: Giles DFAd
Yep, at one time there were some people playing fantasy baseball, wanting the M's lineup a certain way so that their player would get more runs, not because they thought it would result in more wins.
