At this rate, the Astros may have a 10 game lead on the Yankees by then. It would be nice if the Yankees got back on track to give the Mariners some extra breathing room right now though.
At the rate the M's were winning on their 14 game winning streak, they were going to overtake the Astros. If the M's breeze past the WC series, anything can happen.
Astros already overtook the Yankees, have the easier schedule and are playing better. They will likely be the #1 seed. M's more likely to be the 4/5 seed and will end up being seeded to play Astros in round 2. Not a big deal, but I'd rather face the Yankees than Astros in round 2 if M's manage to make the playoffs then win round 1, obviously.

ANd M's only gained 2-3 games on the Astros during their 14 game win streak, so it never actually looked like the M's were going to overcome the Astros.
If the WC3 beats the Central Division leader then we would play the Yankees in round two.

Maybe I read a bad source but it said no reseed after the first round

The M's gained 4.5 games from 7/2 to 7/17, easily enough to overtake the Astros.

That isn't a reseed. It would be #1 vs. #6 and 2 vs. #4.

They interviewed some fans in the bleachers before nights game. I didn't realize they still had Jeff Burroughs.

It would be a reseed. Playoff formats have always been 1(8) plays of 4/5 and 2(7) plays 3. Obviously in this case there isn't a 7 or a seed, so 1 and 2 get abye

LOL So the next Ballpark was only used for about 25 years. T Mobile is in its 24th season. Imagine them abandoning it for a new ballpark in just a couple years. Insanity.
