The sure things:

Offense:
C: Cal Raleigh ($750k)
1B: Ty France ($1.5M)
2B:
SS: JP Crawford ($11M)
3B: Eugenia Suarez ($11.3M)
LF:
CF: Julio Rodriguez ($15M)
RF:
DH:

Pitching:
SP1: Luis Castillo ($12M)
SP2: Robbie Ray ($21M)
SP3: Logan Gilbert ($1M)
SP4: George Kirby ($1M)
SP5:

Bullpen:
Paul Sewald ($2.5M)
Diego Castillo ($3M)
Casey Sadler ($2M)
Andres Munoz ($1M)
Erik Swanson ($1.5M)
Matt Brash ($750K)
Matt Festa ($750K)

Guaranteed contracts:
Evan White ($3M)
Robbie Cano ($3.75M)

The probables:
UTIL: Dylan Moore ($2.5M)
UTIL: Sam Haggerty ($1M)

TOTAL: $96,300,000

The guys under contract that are potential trades/DFA's/QO's, but maybe shouldn't be back next season:
Mitch Haniger ($18M)
Jesse Winker ($8.25M)
Chris Flexen ($8M)
Marco Gonzales ($6.75M)
Tom Murphy ($3M)

They could pay for a good free agent just by trading those last four guys off.
Roster Resource shows that Julios contract is spread out, I just divided.

That makes the Mariners current salary for 2023, excluding Flexen, Marco and Winker who will hopefully find new homes, sitting at about $87,500,000.

JK had 123 PAs - 7 singles -2 Doubles -1 Triple - 4 HRs -9 BBs - 47 Ks. So he put 53 balls in play that became outs.

His GB% was 33.2% so he hit 18 ground balls that became out this season. With no shift how many of the 18 are hits?

BA after added hits due to no shift:

Added Hits New BA
1 0.133
2 0.142
3 0.150
4 0.159
5 0.168
6 0.177
7 0.186
8 0.195
9 0.204

So he would need an absurdly high 50% of his ground balls to get through due to no shift just to get over the Mendoza line. :| I think a more likely number is 2-3 maybe 4. Still would be hitting only .159.
Line drives are robbed by the shift nearly as much as ground balls are. A ball that lands in shallow lf robbed by the rover on 1 hop should not be evaluated as a "ground ball"
Kelenic hitting pretty good in Sept in a small sample size. I still want to trade him.

Maybe his performance since his call up will increase his trade value.

I believe either flexion or Marco are considered sure things, they will use them as depth as well as the minors to provide the number five spot. They may go for 1 OF but not two, lastly Crawford is 2nd base and big signing would be a SS if we get one big FA

Maybe trade for Bryan Reynolds. Get a first baseman. Move Winker to DH or trade him.
What about White? I know he’s been injured, and I know his bat is cooler than JKs. But he’s under contract and I can’t see is paying him $3M to languish in AAA. If the M’a go after a 1B this off-season, they are either going big which tells us White is trade bait, or they go short which tells us White still figures into their long term plans. Maybe a 1 year contract or standing pat with Santana if they decide to give White another season to figure out hitting.

I’ve been a fan of moving Crawford to 2B for a while. I think they could have made a run for Correa last off-season if the M’s weren’t we’d to JP at 2B. We all have our preferences in our jobs, but most of us wind up doing stuff we don’t want to do because management tells us to. If moving JP to 2B is inherently good for the organization - especially at this moment in our club’s history - Crawford should be all in.

Dipoto said that next year he thinks Kelenic will benefit most from the change in the shift rules.

Might as well just pencil him into LF now
I'm all for giving Kelenic a chance, but you NEED 1 solid OF (not named winker) in addition to Julio. Sign a good above average bat for RF, then let Haggerty, Trammell, Lewis, Kelenic, Marlowe, Haggerty, Moore be you LF depth. I think Winker is also going to benefit from the shift rule.
I like the idea of going into 2023 with Marlowe in LF, Julio in CF, Kelenic in RF. So much speed and power and arm in that OF and at plate/on bases. Kelenic is a completely re-made player. He's going to still go thru a streak like everyone else, but I think the needle is pointed way up for him. I expect nothing but .250avg/.800 ops 20 sb seasons from 23 and beyond. And I think the 26yo Marlowe will start out hot and only take off from there. He's really developed well in the minor leagues the last two years in a couple of tough leagues. So I wouldn't be surprised if Marlowe hits like .275/.805 next year with 30 steals

That's what I would do in the OF. Now, for the INF...

sign Trea Turner for SS, move JP to 2nd
Keep Suarez at 3b
keep France and White at 1b
sign Jose Abreu for DH, some 1b relief as White likely doesn't come up until late season if at all

other moves... trade Winker, get Lewis stem cell treatment on knees, stash Toro, Torrens, Trammell in AAA

I don't know, he really hasn't hit in the majors. He has 2 minor league options after this year, so maybe have him in the minors as major league depth. I guess they could trade him and pay part of the money due on the rest of his contract. They cut Sergio Romo, who had a $2 million contract.

We'll see how he does in spring training. He has speed, he could play LF, so maybe they could trade him to fill a backup role for someone else.

Here's his major league stats:
