Welp, home cooking probably never smelled so sweet for the M's.
That was a brutal road trip.

I agree the 6th seed is probably better than the five seed but the one seed is by far the best. If the five seed I'd rather go to Toronto than Tampa

Tough loss today. I wonder if the 11 runs scored by the Royals in the bottom of the 6th is the most this season by any team in a single inning? I'm not sure where to look that up, though I'm sure someone out there knows.

Toronto has scored nearly 100 more runs than Cleveland and are 3rd in team OPS. Cleveland is 19th in team OPS.D-train wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 10:31 pmWe had no problem with TorontoSeattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 10:20 pmSure.
But I'm also aware that they absolutely floundered against our pitching and Tampa/Toronto likely have better offenses.
I fancy our chances of winning a pitching dual against a bad offense far more than our pitching going up against one of the better offenses in baseball.
Not to mention that the Indians only scored 11 runs in 7 games off our staff.

Yep, did they say how long JRod will be out?MarinerFan4Life wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 9:51 pmJust one of those bad days you flush down the toilet and move on. Our pen will bounce back after the much needed day off, and someday soon we will have Julio and Suarez back in the lineup..... better days ahead boys!!

The way we have been hitting we would be lucky to score 7 runs in 11 games vs. their pitching staff which is far better than Toronto. Our starters were pitching a lot better when we faced them. We could go to Cleveland and lose 3-1 and 2-0. Boy that would be fun after 21 years.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 11:43 pmToronto has scored nearly 100 more runs than Cleveland and are 3rd in team OPS. I am pretty indifferent regarding who we play. We might beat Cleveland and Lose to Toronto or vice versa depending on a thousand factors. All WC teams and Cleveland are pretty much equally matched. Would just suck to get no home games at all which is very possible if we play on the road in the WC round....

The week the postseason opens on Friday, October 7, the Mariners have one regular-season game on Sunday, one on Monday, a doubleheader on Tuesday and one on Wednesday.
That presents a challenge setting up the postseason starting rotation. Assuming the Mariners are in, Chris Flexen may need to make another regular-season start or the M's could call up Taylor Dollard or Emerson Hancock for a cameo appearance.

I understand folks are excited. However, I just can't see the M's advancing in any playoff scenario.

You can't envision a world that the M's can win two of three games vs. the Rays, Injuns or BJs with Suarez and Julio back? LOL

M's still just .5 game back of WC 2, and I don't remember and trash being talked about WC2s the last 3 or 4 yrsD-train wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 10:32 pmIf we go on the road I just don't want to play on that s*** hole fake ballpark in tampa. I guess Cleveland has the nicest ballpark of the three. But if we're the third Wild Card everybody will just say We snuck in due to a new playoff format that never existed before
