The bottom line: The Mariners should be the only team with two picks among the first 30 selections. Good news.

Sure, and the bottom line is that the pick is after the Astros, Phillies, and Yankees first round picks.harmony wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 7:25 pmThe bottom line: The Mariners should be the only team with two picks among the first 30 selections. Good news.
Re: Rookie of the Year
And the Mariners' second pick will be at least 25 picks ahead of the second picks of the Astros, Phillies and Yankees (and much more if any of those three teams signs an outside free agent with a qualifying offer).
Re: Rookie of the Year
Sure, that's been the penalty lately, but their first round picks move up by two.
Re: Rookie of the Year
They get a first. Baltimore won't get a pick for Adley because he started in minors. They also lose a year of control if he's top 2 in ROY.
The poster formerly known as Kingfelixk. With a new forum comes a new boardname. Julio is my guy, plus we share a birthday, so that's Culiooooo

Also, the M's would lose their 2nd round pick if they sign a QO free agent.

From Seattle Sports 710:https://sports.mynorthwest.com/1687751/ ... -by-peers/The “official” MLB award, the BBWAA Rookie of the Year honor, has yet to be announced. Should Rodríguez win, under the new CBA he will receive $750,000 from the new bonus pool set aside for club control players and the Mariners will be awarded an extra 2023 draft pick following the end of the first round.
That should be the 29th pick if, as expected, the first picks of the Mets and Dodgers are dropped 10 slots as CBT penalties.

According to MLBTradeRumors the Mariners would give up their third pick for signing a top free agent, which under normal circumstances would be our third round pick.
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/ ... ent-2.htmlRevenue Sharing Recipients: Diamondbacks, Orioles, Reds, Guardians, Rockies, Tigers, Royals, Marlins, Brewers, Twins, Athletics, Pirates, Mariners, Rays
These 14 teams received revenue sharing and did not exceed the competitive balance tax. If one of these teams signs a qualified free agent, it forfeits its third-highest pick.
Seems like the pick we gain from Julio should be exempt since its a bonus and they should instead lose their third round pick. Probably doesn't. But probably should.
In other words we shouldn't lose our second rounder instead of our third rounder just because Julio gained us a pick after the first round. That would amount to the bonus pick we got from him only moving our second pick up in the order. Doesn't seem right for some reason.

Agree 100%, which is why I'm not so sure the M's go out and get one of the Top free agent Shortstops.bpj wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:20 amI'm curious if this will be a gray area.ice99 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 1:42 amI'm reposting in case someone didn't see the highlighted part.

Re: Rookie of the Year
An unlikely signing of Carlos Correa would not result in a loss of a draft pick because this year the shortstop was ineligible for a qualifying offer.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 5:39 amAgree 100%, which is why I'm not so sure the M's go out and get one of the Top free agent Shortstops.bpj wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:20 amI'm curious if this will be a gray area.
