The Tracker
Re: The Tracker
The Pirates signing Santana is kind of interesting. He gets $6.75 million for one year despite that he can barely hit anymore. But he has some power and can draw walks. I think most likely the Pirates are signing him so that they can trade him and get some kind of prospect in return, which on one hand makes sense, but on the other hand that's still a lot of money to pay for some team's #25 prospect. That team could be the Mariners.
Re: The Tracker
Well it will be 4.25M for that prospect but yeah too much. Can't even remember who we traded for him. Pirates just a shit org and that signing shows it. Waste millions on him and if they trade BR it will make even less sense.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 9:59 pmThe Pirates signing Santana is kind of interesting. Re: The Tracker
Baseball Savant likes him
. The expected numbers love Santana. Per Baseball Savant and Statcast, Santana’s expected slash line comes to a .253/.361/.435 with a .352 expected wOBA. Baseball Prospectus’ DRC+, or deserved runs created plus, which is a more predictive version of OPS+ or wRC+, put him at 117 in 2022. That’s a very similar triple-slash to Brandon Nimmo and Rhys Hoskins last season
Re: The Tracker
He's had 3 straight years with an OPS under .700 and he's going to be 37 years old.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 1:58 amBaseball Savant likes him

He had a 2nd half 2022 OPS of .661.
While that looked good in the lineup instead of Toro or Torrens, it's still TERRIBLE for a DH/1B.
They need to aim higher, hopefully they are.
Good luck to Santana in Pittsburgh, he wasn't going to put up no .796 OPS in Seattle.
Re: The Tracker
Added Mike C.
I know he was great at one time 2017 to 2020 143 to 174 ERA+ If he is fit it could be a steal of a deal

Re: The Tracker
Of course I could add Mike Cameron to the M's gets, and gots. But Cameron was always so snobby but did not have the horse power to pull it off. I really don't know why this guy gets the treatment he does.
Re: The Tracker
Based on the contract Boyd got and Eflin‘s new contract, it would appear that Marcos contract isn’t too high based upon their ERA’s being comparable.
Re: The Tracker
Yeah, I had the same thought. Also, Mike Clevinger is signing with the White Sox for $12 million, and he's pretty mediocre now. Marco, much as I dread watching his starts, is basically a bargain at this point. Hard to believe.
