Well if they appear here they are already signed so definitely unlikely we will sign them as well.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 4:56 pmIs this the thread for random vomitous outpourings about players the Mariners are never going to sign?

Re: The Tracker
There are starting to mount a number of players on deals that the M;s could have done. Verlander for example.Abreu,
I think Wong and Teo are pretty good little players.
Wong had the highest barrel rate of his career. Maybe his career high OPS+ is a trend and not a blip.
If we could see at least 2 more sizable upgrades that would go a long way.
Losses Haniger, Winker, Swanson, Frazier, Toro
I agree
Teoscar>Hanigger
Wong>Frazier
But
Nothing to replace one of our best BP arms, and nothing in place of Winker who was supposed to be a 128 OPS+ bat but had a down year at 103. But even a 103 is a lot better than Torrens/JK at like a 60
I think my best scenario is probably Trade off Marco/Fkex. GI get Senga, Go get a good lefty ideally you get SH Pittsburgh;s Reynolds’s, but Nimmo is ok to.
Maybe instead of trading both Marco and Flex is instead getting that back end lefty to help out in that clear need area.

Non sequitur, but something I have been thinking about today. We have talked at length on this board about intangibles that move FA - or, rather, that don't move FA (like geography). The Padres offered Trea Turner $342M. He scoffed at it, and then took an offer from the Phillies for $300M. That's $42M, folks - not chump change. Why? Allegedly because his wife is from New Jersey and he wanted to be on the east coast.
Thank about - it staggers the mind. $42M just be spend more of the year in Philadelphia.
Who knows what will happen with Judge. Apparently the Giants have offered $360M. The Yanks will likely top that, but will geography make or break Judge's decision?

Re: The Tracker
Something like that makes sense. But people saying he wanted to have ST in Florida for two off days their is absurd. NJ is basically a suburb of Philly.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 8:56 pmNon sequitur, but something I have been thinking about today. Yeah - I mean I love my family and in-laws and all that. But I'd live across the country from them for $42M. Just saying.

Relative to 300 Million. 42 Million is only 14% More. If you made 100k and enjoyed being near your friends and family, would you pack up and move across the country for an extra 14K? I wouldn't
