I'M starting to get restless. We need an impact bat. I had the M's signing Abreu. The Ass-tros are screwing up my bracket. And they're adding another big bat we have to contend with.

Could have been us. Should have been us.

Shouldn't this go in the tracker thread? Heathens starting new threads when there's a perfectly good thread to put this info in.

Just joking btw.
The poster formerly known as Kingfelixk. With a new forum comes a new boardname. Julio is my guy, plus we share a birthday, so that's Culiooooo

Jose Abreu has value but the reported three-year, $60 million contract is a stiff commitment to Abreu, who turns 36 in January with projected 2023 wRC+ and WAR of 127 and 2.7.

Perhaps Abreu had absolutely no interest in Seattle amid reports that the veteran was considering the Florida teams nearer to his native Cuba. It's not as if the 30 teams each entered the Abreu sweepstakes with an equal chance.

3 years $60 million for a 36 year old?

Yikes. Have at it Houston.

They will get someone to play 2B but that might be about it. They may just figure with Teoscar and the maturity of Julio/Dumper/etc might be enough to close the gap ... and they might be right. Our pitching was matched, just had injuries at the wrong time to Julio/France/Dump that I think weakened them a bit for the playoffs.

That seems like an awesome plan to let the Astros continue to rule the division and take an early exit in the playoffs.

FWIW Jose Abreu joins the AL West with a career line of .224/.287/.403/.690 line in 223 plate appearances against the Seattle Mariners:

I don't think Abreu was ever on the M's radar.
