The argument that the M's are putting away money so that they can extend literally every player from this "core" is insane. That's just simply not how this thing works. Players will want to test free agency. Players will not pan out. You cannot plan that far in advance without losing sight for the present day.

Why are George Springer and Carlos Correa no longer Houston Astros?

Oh, wait... Houston won the World Series without them. Why? Because you take advantage of many guys while they're cheap and let them walk when they become expensive and you develop well enough to replace them when the time comes.

This whole 2026 thing is utter bullshit. Using it as an excuse to not spend money from 2023-2025 is just so weak.

I think we might all be stunned by some of these contracts that get signed in the next few weeks. Judge will sign at some point and then the floodgates will open and there's gonna be some stupid money given out.
Stupid money? Billionaires decide they want great players to play for them and are willing to spend what it takes is Stupid? Maybe they value the player's contribution to the team and to their business more than the money they pay them and realize that in most cases salaries are investments that generate returns instead of necessary evils of the cost of doing business.

Its like people complaining about CEO salaries. If a CEO gets a $10M bonus for increasing the companies market cap by a billion dollars then it is more than justified.

Totally agree but Jerry thinks he is the smartest guy in the room despite winning two playoff games in his decade long career.

This isn't the first time the narrative has changed from the end of season presser to mid way through the off season. Maybe they should wait until after they set the budget before saying they are all in on the SSs.

Didn't listen but basically teams are going to spend what the owner feels like spending. When Michael Ilitch owned the tigers they were pretty much going toe with the big spenders. Seems the padres were a mid market team until they got a new owner, now they are spending. Takes an owner with a desire to spend

710 treats Mariners fans like they’re dumb. He even protects Jerry’s obvious busts and continues to tout Kelenic as one of their biggest assets.
