Reynolds requests a trade
Re: Reynolds requests a trade
One year of Gold Glove winner Ian Happ, the Cub who posted 3.5 fWAR this year, would cost less than three years of Bryan Reynolds, the Pirate who posted 2.9 fWAR this year.

Jerry Dipoto has probably made calls on the switch-hitting NL Central outfielders born five months apart.

Swap out Marlowe and Hancock for JK and DeLoach and you got a a deal. Crazy that JK still has 4x the value of Marlowe.harmony wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 5:21 pmOne year of Gold Glove winner Ian Happ, the Cub who posted 3.5 fWAR this year, would cost less than three years of Bryan Reynolds, the Pirate who posted 2.9 fWAR this year.

Speaking of six man rotations, writer thinks it's the wave of the future. Hadn't realized the Astros and padres had used six man rotations this past season.

Interesting article, begins with a look at the evolution of the five man rotation“I think, by and large, the guys would say that it’s benefited them and allowed them to be their best pitcher more often,” Astros pitching coach Josh Miller says. “We’ve pitched very well this year, partly due to the six-man rotation and how the guys have been fresh more consistently, and I think that’s done good things for us.”
The benefits for any team looking to make the switch can be enticing. Obviously, each starter gets an extra day of rest. That’s ideal for any players who are on innings limits, whether due to youth or health. It also enables managers to push their most trusted guys a little further in the games they do pitch, a mitigating force against the trend of starters being pulled earlier than ever.
San Diego and Houston have both made use of that edge, with each of those clubs’ two workhorses—Yu Darvish and Joe Musgrove for the Padres, Verlander and Framber Valdez for the Astros—pitching deeper into games than just about everyone this side of Marlins ace Sandy Alcántara.

OTOH we had 6 starters get injured during the two month period we had the 6 man last season and zero in the 10 months of season since they went back to the 5 man. Thankfully Jerry learned his lesson.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 5:31 pmSpeaking of six man rotations, writer thinks it's the wave of the future. Doubt he feels he learned that as a lesson. What you need to pull off a six man rotation really is the pitchers to do it with. If they were to bring in another front line starter and kept flexen for instance perhaps they try it again.

NFW they are going to pay Castillo and RR a quarte Bil and then have them pitch once a week.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 5:37 pmDoubt he feels he learned that as a lesson. Re: Reynolds requests a trade
As the article says, you can pitch them deeper into games.
. And like the Padres, the reigning American League champions had enough quality starters to render the six-man an advantage rather than a necessity. Even after trading veteran hurler Jake Odorizzi to Atlanta at the deadline, Lance McCullers Jr. slid into the vacated slot this week after his recovery from Tommy John surgery was complete. The results speak for themselves. Houston leads all teams in rotation fWAR (12.9) and innings (684 ⅓), ranks second in ERA (3.10) and fourth in WPA (6.2).
Re: Reynolds requests a trade
If they had balls they would trade for Reynolds AND sign Nimmo and Teo to DH.

That's what I was saying, they should have offered haniger the qualifier and gone ahead and signed Nimmo traded for Reynolds or whatever. Haniger on a one year deal been cool
