This really is a problem from last year. Did they really expect him to be taken in the rule 5? If they just chanced it, highly unlikely he would have been. Much higher chance a team puts him in their 40 man roster and just seems him back to high A than taking him last year and putting him on their MLB roster

I bet a team like Cincy signs him

The M’s have decided to take a shot on Bukauskas to see if they can be the ones to benefit from a breakout
It's really about that, they see an opportunity to cash in

Yeah nobody thinks they identified ARod as someone they wanted to get rid of and THEN went out looking for someone to replace him.

Except there is a thread about Arod and his deficiencies, haven't seen any options about acquiring Bukauskas

Because after 2021 he was a fairly highly regarded prospect that nobody would have expected to be DFAd just 15 months later. It was a pretty significant trade. You might remember the guy we traded for him.
The Mariners have acquired minor league outfielder Alberto Rodriguez from the Blue Jays to complete the teams’ trade for right-hander Taijuan Walker, Seattle announced.

Sure, I commented on the thread myself. They didn't want to get rid of him, the basically traded him for Bukauskas. Im saying Bukauskas is in their wheelhouse. They think can fix him and so cash in quicker than Arod. And perhaps for more if they are feeling Arod is looking more like a 4th outfielder these days

Odd why the Dbacks released him, particularly with an option left
. Rodríguez, acquired in the Taijuan Walker trade, took a big step backwards last season, both on the field and in his conditioning, and Kyle Glaser of Baseball America suggested in a recent chat that the team wasn’t pleased with his conditioning. The Mariners are betting that no other team will scoop up Rodríguez after his stepback season, but it’s not a strong vote of confidence in the progress of the young outfielder.

Bukauskas, seems kinda odd to release him, Dbacks have the worst bp in the majors? Couldn't find a place for him? doubly odd that he has an option
