I highly recommend bookmarking this site for the following reasons.

https://sports.mynorthwest.com/1721815/ ... g-hitters/

1. Unlike the Times it is free
2. They are prolific churning out an M's piece almost everyday
3. They are connected having Jerry and Hollander on the radio about once a week.

If you read these articles you won't look dumb contradicting Jerry's actual comments.

It's the FIRST site I check every time I pick up the phone. Usually goes in this order:

1. Sports.northwest.com
2. Mlbtraderumors.com
3. Marinertalk.com
4. Sportspyder.com
5. Theathletic.com
I subscribe to the times so that is top two for me. What is this? Never even heard of it.

4. Sportspyder.com

Of course he won't say it out loud but you know Jerry wants Hummel to make the team making trading his first round pick away look much better.
Hummel is hard to gauge. It's more due to the Dback's AAA ballpark.
Because the field is 4,385 feet above sea level, fly balls travel about 7 or 8% farther than at sea level, so down the right-field line it's 340 feet from home

In 2021, Reno scored 7.03 runs/gm and gave up 6.41 runs/gm, both tops in the AAAW. Last season, it was better, they were in the middle of the pack in runs/gm and were 2nd best in giving up 5.24 runs/gm.

Yes, he had better stats than JK in AAA last season, but he also had better stats than Haggerty, and much worse stats than Haggerty at the major league level.

One of the rules of this forum is that you're only allowed to use stats and data that support the idea that JK is terrible and worse than every other player ever. Any other mitigating factors, like ballpark data, is strictly forbidden. You've been warned.
VERY Easy rule to follow.

Speaking of mynorthwest, they had on Kyle Glaser from baseball America, he had this to say about JK. I think it's pretty telling. There is still hope for his development but it's not about being the player once invisioned.
. “In terms of the way his offensive game has developed and his swing has developed, I think people for the most part now see the hope is that he can hit enough to be more of a bottom of the order-type of guy, and that’s going to be something where he’s going to have some adjustments to make to get there,” he said.

But right now, the general outlook is you’re hoping he can get to that bottom of the order-type of everyday player. Just the way his game has evolved, no one really sees the impactful, top to middle of the order type of hitter they once did,”
And that's the deal, how much can you invest in a guy that projects as a bottom of the order bat. And I believe dipoto will take that into account, he isn't stupid. I don't see them just rolling him out there all season if he doesn't improve
Good job following the new rule!

It appears they are just aggregating from other sites. If you drill down to Mariners "News", you see stories linked there from Sodo Mojo, Seattle Times, and MLB. Personally, I have no use for this sort of site. I'd rather go to those sites directly and discover their content myself.

I guess it makes sense if you follow a bunch of sports and different teams. I'm pretty much a one-trick pony though.

The baseball only fans are not an insignificant segment of the population. A unique bunch to be sure. I have a totally different relationship with Baseball and Football but couldn't live without either.

Hummel played in hitter's parks on the road. He played in 3 road trips: Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, and Sugar Land.

Smith's Field (SLC), is about 160 ft. lower in elevation than the Reno one, but the distance to the RF fence is 315 ft (as opposed to Reno's 340 ft). It's a better hitting environment than Reno, for a batter that can hit left-handed (Hummel is a switch hitter).

He played in Las Vegas when the temperature hit the 100's. It hit the 100's in the road series in Sugar Land, Tx too.

It's not quite Tacoma.
