Cooper Pratt
SS/3B
6'4" 195
B/T: R/R
School: Magnolia Heights (Prep)

Prospects Live currently has him at #42, though I'm sure that will change. That's a very high ranking for a prep player though.

Here's the blurb:

Pratt is a strong, long-bodied infielder with big tools and a track record of performing against premium pitching. Pratt has a proven resume against velocity and has a willingness to use the whole field, spraying line drives to all-fields, showcasing over-the-fence juice to his pullside. Pratt is a fringe-average runner and likely a fringe-average athlete, though with his frame, there's a chance he could hold his speed or even get a touch quicker with added muscle and training. He's got a huge arm, comfortable plus across the diamond. Most evaluators believe he's destined for third base or maybe even right field. The bat is what you're buying here, and Pratt should develop into significant impact at the plate.

My take is that he looks like a lot of elite high school baseball players and I'm not sure what it is about him that has him ranked so highly That's nothing against the player, I just think the rankings are fairly raw right now and where you rank the prep kids especially is just really, really subjective. I tend to really discount claims of fringe athleticism (as in the above blurb) as sort of non-sensical at this point. That said, this is a good hint that the player probably won't stick in the infield.

If he sticks around #42, it'll really just depend how much teams like him and what his bonus demands are. You see prep players ranked in this range go undrafted every year because their bonus demands are too high, and so they go to college. My guess is that's where he's going.

The Seattle Mariners have picks 22, 29, 30, 57, and 92 in July’s MLB Draft. Boston College’s Travis Honeyman. could be on the club’s radar. He is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound outfielder – he spent last season playing left field exclusively, but played center all sumer in the Cape Cod League.

In his 41 games for Boston College, he put up an impressive .329/.402/.506 slash line with six home runs. Then in 24 games for Orleans in the CCL slashed .289/.400/.530 with four homers. He doesn’t strike out much — 34 times between B.C. and the Cape — and draws enough walks to suggest strong discipline and zone judgment.

Prospects Live ranks Honeyman as their No. 22 prospect, and MLB Pipeline has him No. 23. Both are high on his potential, and Prospects Live said “Honeyman is a solid player in almost every aspect of the game and is a bit of a sum-of-his-parts type of player.” MLB Pipeline also gives him average or better scouting grades across the board, including a 55 hit tool projection and 50 power projection. Hemay in the conversation for the Mariners as high as the back end of the first round.

Honeyman feels like another DeLoach.....DeLoach actually hit far better in both College and in The Cape as the locals call it here.

Well then let's go and see the kid in the Cape together this summer! And the jury is still out on DeLoach. In fact, who do you have more faith in, DeLoach or Kelenic? Lol

I like prospects with a bigger frame. The last outfielder I was this high on, was George Springer. I mean, I was all fucking in on that dude. The same with Kirby,(I predicted that pick EARLY) before draft day. Honeyman is approaching that territory. I also was ALL IN on Mick Abel over Emerson Hancock. Too early to tell on that one, but Abel is in the Top 100. So is Colten Cowser. Another favorite of mine.

Nothing wrong with Deloach as a pick though. He developed and turned into a decent AA player. He'll probably make it to AAA this year. Sure, he doesn't look like a major league regular right now, but he isn't a bust, and I could see him making the majors at some point this year as an injury replacement.

Sure. Agree and he was a second rounder not a 1st rounder. I am really liking Cole Young. I hope they keep drafting bats.
