Yanks will want you to kick in the $2 mil
And I'd do it if it got me across the finish line.
Sure, was just kidding about how cheap the yanks can be . Think it was a trade with the pirates, they had them toss in a mil, thought it was funny
Yep not George's team any more. So much for not valuing money when you just inherit it. M's did the same on the Wong trade. Couldn't believe the Brewers agreed today given they aren't exactly known to be big spenders.

I haven't been paying super close attention the last week so figured I would head over to roster resource and see how things stand. This is what they have for the M's on opening day.

C: Cal Raleigh
1B: Ty France
2B: Kolten Wong
SS: JP Crawford
3B: Eugenio Suarez
RF: Teoscar Hernandez
CF: Julio Rodriguez
LF: Jarred Kelenic
DH: AJ Pollock

Bench: Tom Murphy
Bench: Cooper Hummel
Bench: Tommy LaStella
Bench: Sam Haggerty

SP: Luis Castillo
SP: Robbie Ray
SP: Logan Gilbert
SP: Marco Gonzales
SP: George Kirby

RP: Andres Munoz
RP: Matt Brash
RP: Paul Sewald
RP: Diego Castillo
RP: Penn Murfee
RP: Trevor Gott
RP: Matt Festa
RP/SP: Chris Flexen

My guess is the next two up from Tacoma for the bullpen pile are Justin Topa and Gabe Speier. I'm sure both are crossing their fingers for a last minute Flexen trade.

This team has some question marks. I keep wondering about the middle infield and I'm pretty sure I'd rather have a 3 win player in IKF vs. Tommy LaStella, though I thought the LaStella signing made sense at the time. The more I think about it, the more that trade (Flexen for IKF) makes all kinds of sense. And it's not just JP and his "soggy shoulder", whatever the fuck that means. Kolten Wong is a little guy that doesn't hit the ball hard or in the air, and he's 32, which isn't ancient, but I wouldn't be surprised to see signs of decline this year. There's a very good chance that IKF is just better at baseball right now than Wong.

It also seems like we're placing a lot of hope in JK, Pollock, and Cooper Hummel. If those guys are average hitters, then okay, but I don't know who the team turns to for plan B. Delino DeShields? Will Colin Moran accept an assignment to Tacoma?

And of course we don't know what we have in the bullpen yet. But that's normal, not just for the Mariners, but for a lot of teams coming out of spring training. Matt Moore sure would have been a nice pickup, that's for sure.
TLS can't play SS so it will likely be McCoy. Other than that it is spot on.

Just WAY too many ?????s. I will be happy either way. Either most of the ?????s work out and we win 95 games or snake oil Jerry will look like a fool.

But Wong and Pollock both have looked anemic at the plate. I don't see significant production out of either of them.

Not seeing Pollock as a winker replacement, for one thing they bat from opposite sides of the plate. In terms of Pollock's spring, how many of his at bats were against left handed pitchers?

So a pair of games worth, interesting they bother to do splits on spring training stats, gives the impression they have some sort of value

Typically don't get 5-6 PAs in a ST game but yeah ridiculously small sample. If he can just come close to what he did last season it would be good.
