Sure am glad we traded the hitter closest to the majors for a pitcher. I don’t hate that trade. I hate the subsequent moves of not adding to the lineup then sitting on their assess in the off-season, so now they will need to trade guys like Gabriel Gonzales at the deadline, who is my number 1 do not trade hitter, even over ford and Clase.
Sorry, but what trade are you talking about?
Marte and Arroyo for Castillo.

What do you make of ARod and Clase power surges, Gabe?
We just have to see if they can sustain. Alberto needs to move up and I'm sure that will happen soon. I imagine when it does that G2 will move into his place in Everett.

I’d be fine trading Hancock and Woo. We have young pitchers in the pipeline, and we have

Castillo
Kirby
Gilbert
Miller
Ray

They are all under team control for 4+ years. They have Flexen and Marco until Ray comes back, and maybe Dollard to give some depth from the minors.
Ray will likely miss most of 2024 so Woo should be in the OD rotation.............IF we don't sign Ohtani.
It will probably be Marco

I am one of the top 1 most critical guys of Jerry but that was a great trade and extension. Marte is a good hitter but Castillo is an Ace and that contract is a massively below market deal.
Again, the trade isn’t the problem, it’s the trade everything away for pitching, which is the strength of development while trading away the 2 best and closest (at the time) hitters, then doing shit last trade deadline and this off-season to add to the lineup which was clearly the biggest weakness last year that kept the mariners from being a contender. That trade alone is fine, it’s their half assery and being too chicken shit to actually go all in on building a contender by getting a complete lineup

You know I agree 1000% with that.

Woo would be hard for me to say good bye to, and Hancock's value couldn't be lower at the moment. But we could definitely afford to lose them.
Maybe they should have just signed someone in the off-season…
I agree that they definitely needed to. But not for those prices.

Sign a Schwarber, Conforto, Santana, someone. A proven everyday MLB hitter that isn’t 35. Imagine where this team would be if Kelenic had played like last year.

Or what if they got serious and signed Judge? I know he was likely going to sign with the Skankees anyway, but all I thought last night as Judge crushed 2 homers and bounced another off the centerfield wall for a double was how little the marine layer and pitcher-friendly park didn’t impact his at-bats.

Hancock struggled today, but sure didn’t get much help from the ump.

Top Prospect and other interesting minor leaguer updates:

G2 .363/.949 Hot AF right now
CY .272/.815 Cooled off but still solid
Tatem Levins .306/.943 8th round pick out of Pittsburgh. Old for the level. Just turned 24 but a catcher so good to keep an eye on.
Prince Harry: .252/.840 Solid season but I would like to see a higher BA from a 20 yo in A ball that was a 1st rounder. Trade bait imo.
ARod: Out of his damn mind offensive explosion. Two more HRs and a double. Now at .335/1.101. 8 bombs in 10 games. Might want to sell high or promote him to AA.
Packard: .302/.907 Damn good line but he is 25 yo already
Moore and Marlowe sucking in AAA. Don't expect much if and when they are promoted.
DeLoach hit a HR and is solid but not expecting much out of him either despite a .294/.833 line.
